    ID checks for domestic pax?

Bummer! There had to be a catch. Yeah I guess that has to lead to delays wherever they do it. Whether it is worthwhile to achieve their security objective, who knows?

    ID checks for domestic pax?

This thread shows how out of touch I am. I still provide passport every time I check in, or enter my passport number into the kiosk if I don't have checked bags and there's a line at the counter. It's just habit on every flight, domestic or international - saves remembering booking codes. I...

Air Asia X Premium Flatbed approx $300 return SYD/DPS or MEL/DPS

I'm getting $657 out, $620 back from Melbourne atm for 1 person. Was it just a one day sale or can anyone else access the cheapies now? Fantastic find for anyone who managed to snag one.

Couldn't be $300 return surely? Gotta be each way?

Now possible to upgrade award seats.

Re: Requesting Upgrade on Classic Flight Reward Bookings I may be just cynical but I suspect this gives Qantas the chance to only offer Economy awards down the track and anyone who wants anything else can upgrade automatically (at usually more than double the points cost of the business award...

    Guesting strangers into the lounge

I've never approached a random to guest them in. I often wish I had the opportunity to help someone out that came up organically at check in or on the way but it hasn't happened yet. The only time I've guested a "random" was coming back from LHR to SYD via KUL. I was WP but travelling in Y and...

What do you like most about Qantas?

Flounges in SYD and MEL!! Baggage always arriving on the same plane. Guaranteed seat (no overbooking). CBR domestic J lounge. (The latter 3 also apply to Virgin but contrast with US airlines). Also "I still call Australia home" on a flight back.

    Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Maybe it has something to do with cookies in the browser you usually use? I usually use Chrome and it's not working there anymore but Firefox (which I only ever use if Chrome isn't working) and Incognito Chrome are fine. I'd guess if I deleted cookies in Chrome it would work fine again there...

    Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Anyone able to search/book flights atm? I just keep getting "Error: This webpage has a redirect loop" Edit: Working on Firefox. Maybe just a Chrome thing.

Brisbane domestic Qantas lounge access for non-travellers

The same way you pick up kids from the gate - they don't check BPs in domestic.

Visiting China outside of Beijing, Shanghai and Xian

Use this site: China Trains Schedule: Tickets Booking Delivery Service There are numerous direct trains with various seat/sleeper options. Just searching random dates in Feb brings up 6-10 direct trains per day. But don't be daunted by changing trains anyway, especially from major centres. At...

Visiting China outside of Beijing, Shanghai and Xian

If you just learn some really basic Mandarin, you'll be fine. I like the Michel Thomas speaking courses for the plane on the way over - a few hours of that is enough to get by. I spent a bit of time in Lijiang Old Town, Shuhe Ancient Town, the Tiger Leaping Gorge and Lugu Lake regions in Yunnan...

    Indian eVisa

When I went a couple of years ago the process was: fill out the form at home, go to the VFS place and take a number, wait about 3 hours, get told Aussie passport photos are the wrong size so get new ones from the booth, submit everything, go back a week later and take a number, wait about 2...

Planning a RTW via Qantas One World

Yeah thats a surface sector. If you fly to Berlin and out of Frankfurt, then Berlin-Frankfurt is a surface sector. Just click the surface sector box on the online tool.

Qantas lounge shoe policy - this is concerning

They're acceptable in all the places you mention. Hop across to the F lounge and they're acceptable there. They constitute at least half the footwear on any aircraft, in every shopping centre and at every sports stadium (at least in summer). So do girls in little shorts, t shirts and everything...

    No more Platinum shadow?

Were WPs ever able to request these? I found it usually just happened unless the flight was full or there were higher status pax on board that got them. Nice little unadvertised bonus which, like the personal greetings, were common but not universal.
