    Excess luggage and Air NZ

Usually depends on attitude of check in attendant. < 5kg usually pretty lenient. Otherwise, from memory, I think it's $10 per kg.

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Yeah - always a tough luck story when put in for a points upgrade and cop a footy team (who change flights/book at late notice) and they take up 30+ J seats.

    Qantas Premium Economy

I'm booked on QF 31 and QF 32 in late January (23rd and 30th to be exact; SYD-LHR-SYD) on a paid PE ticket. I've requested an upgrade to J. What's everyones (well maybe WP's) experiences with op-ups on this sector? Is there more chance given I have a paid PE ticket? It is the A380...

    The 'science' of op-up?

IMO there is no 'science' to getting op-ups. But some things can be done to help your chances of getting one. Basically you need to be a high tier frequent flyer (Platinum or Gold) booked in an economy cabin that is oversold and then you have a chance. In the past 12 months my travel has...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

Got another op-up yesterday SYD-MEL 1830hrs. Checked E/F earlier in the day and saw no Y and 9 J seats. Checked again in lounge and 2 J left. Got the magical beep upon boarding. Continues my good run this year.

    LAN SYD-AKL-SYD booking question

I've done this LAN sector a few times - but probably over 12 months ago. I thought their J product was rubbish. If things have changed then I may give it a try again one day soon. (Although probably the SYD-AKL sector to avoid the early kick off required for the AKL-SYD)

    iPhone / iPod Touch applications?

I moved from a Bold to a 3GS last week. Use Exchange and was skeptical - but after talking to some others about it I made the move. One downside is that Replies/Forwards from iPhone do not show up with the little arrow icon in your Outlook indicating the message was replied to or forwarded on.

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

I agree with sefty here. I've lost count of my op-ups this year. Maybe 15 or so. A lot of SYD-MEL and MEL-SYD. The most bizzare of all was a KTA-PER on a 734 last week that had 30 pax in Y. Allocated 1A at checkin after doing OLCI. Very weird. Think it was a training exercise for new FA in...

    Airport X-ray missed carving knives

Got my leatherman through unknowingly last week PER-MEL, PER-PBO, KTA-PER. Didn't realise it was in my hand luggage until I found it yesterday. All domestic - but still expected it would get picked up. Obviously I'm pretty stoked not to loose it.

    Will I get upgraded? Have a guess/vote

I guess Yes! I've had a good year domestically - maybe about 15 on departure upgrades. Always on Red-E-Deals always booked off peak looking for the cheapest fare. Never look at loadings when booking. So based on my experience, good chance.

    Qantas Website Changes

I like it. Thought it was in the pipeline when the new layout/design of the 'Manage my Booking" page was viewed in the past month or so.

    Young-ish pax experiences

Interesting thread. I'm an early 20's WP and do about 2-300k miles per year (at a rough guess). Generally I find the overall service I recieve is equal to that of all other WP's. However, I also understand that I may get treated differently becuase of my age and accept that. It doesn't worry...

Booking International Flights without Passport Details

When I've had to book other passengers on my flight and I don't have their passport details (EK and NZ....and maybe LA) I just put in false info such as Passport# AA11111. Never had an issue.
