How long do BA, Finnair and Other oneworld flights take to credit to Qantas?

Must be getting much better. Flew Cathay Melbourne to New York on Sunday and points were in my account by Tuesday.

    Bucket list Restaurants worldwide

As this thread has come up I thought I would update. I took my wife in 2024. She was horrified at the cost before we arrived. Afterwards she said it was well worth it for the experience

An unanticipated but exciting opportunity to tour southern Africa in April 2026 - advice and input requested

One of the problems I am having with planning South Africa travels at the moment is the non availability of Classic Rewards Flights Sydney to Johannesburg direct. Even with Gold Status and trying at 10.00am on the day the flights become available the best I can do is Classic Plus at a huge...

Has Google Maps Lost the Plot

Latest info is that before I went overseas i didnt have any Google Maps preferences set. On my return Maps does look a bit different and on checking it has set the preferences with only buses on! (Something I would not have changed as I regularly use both bus and train) I think the word...

Has Google Maps Lost the Plot

I have regularly used Google Maps to plan trips on public transport. With the latest ‘upgrade’ that might be stopping. Today I was standing at Broadmeadows Station (closest station to Melbourne Airport) and looking to travel to Dandenong Station. Google Maps totally ignored any train option...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

As I needed 20 points before the end of August to maintain Gold I did a Status Run Melbourne-Sydney return on the 22nd August. By the 26th August a problem related to my volunteering happened that meant I had to fly to Bankok on the 31st August so now overshot to hit 640 points for the year!

    Upgrade excitement

About ten years ago Mrs Bashworth had never flown business, although I had several times thanks to work travel. We were off on an Emirates flight to KL via Singapore no points no status. We had checked in on line and printed the boarding passes. When we got to the check in desk the check in...

    Business Class: numbers or psychology?

As we are retired we quite often go away for 6-10 weeks. Although Business class is 3 times the price the fact that we go away for so long means our flight costs per week away is comparable with someone who goes away 3 times for 2-3 weeks flying Economy.

How much to spend on a Status Run

This membership year, which ends in August a planned trip was delayed to next membership year and for the first time ever I did a Status Run (Melbourne-Sydney and back). The 20 points earned got me to 600 points and another year of Gold. The $300 it cost really annoyed me, but how much would...

Seemingly trivial reasons why you choose one hotel/airline/shop over another

I have avoid Qatar Airlines because I wasn't able to have a shower in their Doha Lounge in 2015. This was due to the very small number of shower rooms all being booked out in the 90 mins I was in the lounge.

    Business Class: numbers or psychology?

I didn't pay for Business Class for myself until our 40th Wedding Aniversary in 2017 when we did a Round the World Trip in Business. Since then we have tended to pay for a premium cabin for long haul but still go economy for shorter trips. As far as using point are concerned we tend to look at...

☕ What's your definition of "good" coffee?

The best 'lounge coffee' that I have had recently was made by the Barista in the Brisbane Domestic Qantas lounge. . . I told her she should apply for a transfer to Melbourne, my local airport. Life is too short to waste it drinking instant coffee or drinking from a takeaway cup.

The Dark side of Japan Tourism.

This thread really reinforces my decision when I reached the age of 60 to avoid driving in any country except Australia, and the UK (where I drove for around 18 years before I emigrated)

Family of 5, are points and rewards still worth pursuing? particularly if using platforms like pay.com.au?

Even with just two of us I frequently look at getting a points ticket for my wife and paying for my ticket. Still means we save around 40-45% of the travel if we both bought tickets. It also has the advantage that I continue to pick up status points which is handy for lounge visits, and early...

    Scams like these

At my work Email over the last few weeks I have received a couple of Email as Follows: I hope this message finds you well. My name is Agnes Jansson and I'm from Sweden. I am writing to you today to request a pen pal friendship. I have always been fascinated by the idea of having a pen pal, and...

Article: Reward Seat Release Patterns Have Changed Fundamentally

My solution is to 'burn' points on my wifes travel and pay for my tickets so I keep gold status. In our case it works quite well as I travel more than my wife.

Seemingly trivial reasons why you choose one hotel/airline/shop over another

For me its towels. There is one hotel, in Interlaken, that sticks in my mind for having the worst towels even though everything else was OK.

    Qantas Customer Remediation Program

But what about those who booked on Points? I had a 9.00am Jetstar flight booked on points from Perth to Melbourne cancelled at 2.00am (which I obviously didn't find about until we woke up. Got the points back but it cost us $1,000 each to get home (Both in Middle Seats)
