    Using AFF in China

Interesting. That use to be pretty common (including in some foreign condos) but has been wound back a lot in recent years.

    Using AFF in China

Possibly VPN is continually changing IP. I had no issues in China a few months ago, but just used roaming eSIM. On Hvr's post for 99% or the population I'd be more concerned about Facebook than Chinese Govt collection.

    Qantas' New A321XLR

What are you expecting. It's a domestic bus. We know it's not going to be a massive step change, but it's the first new aircraft (let alone type) on the golden triangle routes on over 11 years. No seat back IFE and similar recliner J and basic Y seats.

Best travel mode for getting from Hong Kong to this destination in southern China?

Maybe the ferry. Routes from Shenzhen Shekou Port and Shenzhen Fuyong Port to SkyPier at HKIA. Suspect you can get a Didi/ Taxi pretty close to both ports. Not done it myself

Bangkok again with Singapore and Batam.

2018 vintage though. You're paying for the cellaring :-) indeed I suspect they don't sell much of it. (I'd actually be a bit worried about the whites if they are truly 2018s of Jacob Creek ( 's missing as well)

Any time frame on when WiFi will appear on Qantas 787s long haul?

ViaSat now fully owns Inmarsat and it's GX series (link) of satellites which are also Ka band. Including GX3 which has good coverage over Australia and the Pacific, and what I suspect is giving the 332s their additional capability today. And GX6A which seems to cover Singapore to Japan.

And is not much more advanced than having someone in the coughpit tapping away in Morse code. Per Vic's post there are numerous satellite options each with advantages and disadvantages and coverage sweetspots. And you have much better choices over land rather than ocean given that's where most...

Regent returning to Australia and new InterContinentals in Australia

CP Coogee has been closed since early April for what was planned as a six months renovation, including seemingly a new pool area, so it does at least look like a substantial change. https://coogeebeach.crowneplaza.com/

Any time frame on when WiFi will appear on Qantas 787s long haul?

Those pesky little things called contracts. These three ViaSat3 sats cost something like US$2.5bn to design build and launch, and you can guarantee customers are locked in fairly tight. Much like we haven't seen anyone walk away from Boeing 777Xs orders despite the delays. And airlines are...

But that's the nature of many management decisions. Signing long-term contracts where a lot of elements are out of their control. Could be worse. Qantas could have ordered 777Xs and planned for their introduction from 2020.

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

Remember the Federal Court decision was 4-3. This decision was equally within an inch of being viewed as completely legal. I'm sure the CEO, management and Board at the time (and noting there has been significant turnover) would have relied on some very expensive legal advice that the decision...
