The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

You're fundamentally on a QF flight. EK can't/won't sell you the usual cash upgrade rates as they'd need to pass a cut on to QF...which logistically likely doesn't exist, so you'll be out of luck. You are right in that the price will be the ticket different rate...keeping in mind...you'll be...

Yes. And BNE-MNL that I did recently with PR on 321neo is a 5hithaul.

Article: The Sad History of Virgin Australia’s Long-Haul Network

In my mind, long haul is anything with twin-aisle aircraft. You won't convince me otherwise. Just like, New Zealand and Indonesia don't count as 'international travel'.

Anyone ever managed to use Etihad miles to redeem flights to AUH from SYD? Or got upgrades?

I've only ever redeemed for J. The other upside for Etihad is that their fares ex Asia to anywhere are usually lower than any other airline. Asia to Europe return J can be found for AU $3k regularly. Etihad seems to have found its place in the world as an 'Emirates lite'.

Anyone ever managed to use Etihad miles to redeem flights to AUH from SYD? Or got upgrades?

I've transferred almost 1M miles into Etihad over the past couple of years. Here is what most people don't understand. Forget 'classic awards' as you compete against millions of others. It blows my mind how set in stone so many people are on redeeming the lowest possible cost redemption while...

    KUL transit on separate tickets

It will come down to the check-in staff at Perth. If they give you some nonsense policy excuse, tell them you're not legally allowed to enter Malaysia, and thus, bags need to be checked. It might raise an eyebrow... but those bags will be checked through!

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Highly suspect. This article from The Times is super interesting, with some incredible quotes and numbers!! 800% interest in BA members wanting a status match elsewhere: Travellers are obsessed with status — and airlines are going into battle for their loyalty

    What frequent flyers really want?

This is what airline-logic-thinking. Too many people...restrict restrict! The reality is that if lounges are 'too crowded', it means the lounge is too small. i.e. the airline doesn't have the capacity to meet demand. More elites = airline making $$.. BUILD A BIGGER LOUNGE! My view on 'what do...

    1K Unrequited KrisFlyer Miles

I go through a similar exercise every other year on what to do with expiry KF miles. Weirdly enough, I have only ever redeemed Krisflyer for nonsense in their store, or using the cash+miles slider at around 1.1c per point value. SQ the airline gets a lot of praise for airline stuff but nobody...

Qantas Frequent Flyer refusing to credit Alaska flight as operated by Skywest

Major 2025 Qantas Frequent Flyer program changes

How many are non-QF members? How many are non-AU-based QF members? How many are made by brokers? How many seats are 'inventory jacked' and unbookable? The average QF member has no chance. Your only hope to get the seat you really want is be Platinum or higher, be worth a lot to the airline...

Major 2025 Qantas Frequent Flyer program changes

Dude come on, Qantas PR tells us there are record numbers of classic award seats available!! It's not their fault you don't want to fly between Albury and Griffith on a Tuesday afternoon when there is unlimited classic award space.

Major 2025 Qantas Frequent Flyer program changes

The simple answer is: Premium cabins have record high demand, globally. The cost to fly premium cabins, especially in/out of AUS, is priced at a premium. Let's call it the Australia tax. So if you're running a for-profit airline in arguably one of the most expensive countries on earth to live...

Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

QF will go spend-based for everything eventually for two simple reasons. 1) Everyone at QF is incentivized not to rock the boat, to do what their boss wants and keep their job. Think about it - Sky-high property prices in Sydney don't pay themselves...interests are aligned with their job and...

The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Same flight #. Note that if, for example, you are QF Gold on QF# but EK plane, and your friend is on QF ticket but EK flight number, you are technically not on the same flight # for lounge access/billing purposes. If you're on cash biz/first ticket, or hold EK status, this carries more weight...
