    Bronze members Blocked?

Thanks for finding the source and it is indeed even more generous than I remembered - but no guaranteed seats in F and all only out of London. In any case I wish there would be such a guarantee on Qantas out of Australia...

    Bronze members Blocked?

Pre-Covid (and I think still now) British Airways guaranteed at least one Business Class award seat on each flight - a shame that QF does not do this. It would probably not make any practical difference to a Bronze member, but it would be a sign that providing Award seats is at least not totally...

    QF International via Darwin

I am thinking (without any inside knowledge) that Australia will likely follow the UK rather sooner than later in not requiring any arrival testing at all. By avoiding SIN QF could then avoid all the hassle of testing for its passengers between SYD/MEL-LHR. Therefore I do not think that QF will...

Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

The website only says "until the last scheduled Qantas departure" ( see here) and my understanding is that the late QR departures are well outside of this window.

Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

Yes, based on Oneworld rules you are allowed to use the QF F lounge. However, on a practical level you will not be able because they are usually not open during the QR departure times.

QF A380 back in service from January 11

The current planning is for Qantas to use A380s to LHR from 19 June and it will likely be a messy situation where on some days you will get a refurbished plane and on other days the non-refurbished A380, therefore creating chaos with the seat reservations, particularly in J. As I know Qantas, it...

QF A380 back in service from January 11

I also find this embarrassing for Qantas and, if this A380 continues operating without getting the refurb together with refurbed A380s, will lead to chaos and frustrations with the seat assignments, particularly in J, when you will never know which type of A380 you get. Such a poor decision to...

Time for a Qantas sale? Another DSC offer?

I fully agree that demand is probably much lower than expected by Qantas and other airlines for the reasons outlined by you - cost of COVID tests plus uncertainty. There is also another factor stopping people making bookings - the high cost and uncertainty of travel insurance. The prices of...

    Abandoning Prison Island

Am I the only one that is annoyed that the Qantas J "wine list" actually does not list any wines? I recently flew Qatar Airways and every single flight had the printed J wine list with full descriptions of the six available wines (plus two champagnes). I really think a printed wine list can be...

Qantas to shut airport service desks, force customers onto self-service

Both from personal experience in the last two weeks and several friends, I find it absolutely rediculious that Qantas is unable to check for valid connections when cancelling and rebooking a passenger - it is simply such a waste of everyone's time (and Qantas call centre resources) when you need...

    Hilton (brand) returning to MEL

I recently stayed at the Hilton Melbourne and it was a mixed bag, but I would generally agree that it is not worth what it charges. I really like the interiour design and the architecture combining an old law chambers with a new built tower, also the location is great in the heart of the CBD...

    Qantas app trips not syncing

I made bookings earlier this week and since then the issue is there. It is very annoying (and I also tried re-installing etc...)

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

MEL-SYD dinner flight with some lamb dish that turned out to be mostly eggplant parmigiana with small amounts of lamp. Tasty and overall good. Beside some nasty weather-related delays, my issue with the flight were the four Qantas staff in uniform taking all seats in row 2 of the 737. We were...

Is the Qantas Premier Platinum historically a good offer? 100k points for $199 fee

I got this card successfully, but I too have learned over the years that "it's Citi" is an important component of dealing with them. Their criteria are mysterious and it is not worth making a complaint as they have every right to select their customers.

Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

I think of myself as a very rational person - that is exactly the reason why I understand risk management. Life is full of risks and unintended consequences. When very respected institutions such as the Sydney Brain and Mind Centre clearly say that Australia will have significantly more death...

QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

In Australia also Virgin, but given the much smaller international flight schedule of Virgin that would not really matter. The important and expensive case is QF.

QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

While I would really like to see such a solution that would remove the need to overload the callcentre, I think it will only happen if the Australian Government supports Qantas. Otherwise I have doubts that the cashflow situation of the company (like most international airlines) would allow a...

QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

This requirement practically closes the Australian borders to all tourist, business visitors and will also massivly reduce the number of Australians going overseas. Therefore I expect QF to cancel most international services, including the last 2 A380s.

Qantas - what will Coronavirus mean in the medium term?

In Germany when there is a lack of work companies can apply to get "Kurzarbeitergeld" (literally short work money) for their employees. Then the unemployment insurance is paying for a large share of the original income while the workers temporary do not work, but they are still technically...
