Advanced Seat Selection no longer just a QFF benefit (if you want to pay)

Oh puleeez. For many people, the cost of flying is still quite high. As I work 2 hours from Dubbo, I don't do many flights. The cost to fly Qantas Dubbo / Sydney Friday night, back Sunday night is between $430 to $555 for 20 SC (work that out on a cost / SC!) Have never flown Rex...

Domestic & International Seat Selection now has exit rows

re: Domestic & International Routes Seat Selection now includes exit rows I'm NB and QP. Tonight, I booked Y - SYD-ATL via DFW, then JFK to LAX, stopover, then LAX to SYD Had to call Qantas as I needed to be on QF108 x JFK and I couldn't do it online. At the end of the booking, seats were...

    Getting Free /Discounted Qantas Club?

+1 BTW, knowing that I would be doing a lot of international travelling in the next 4 years, I joined the QP in the 90 hour sale for 4 years, then got stung beautifully. Did I complain to this group? Nup FWIW, I don't think that "flaming" is part of this group's ethics, particularly when...

Virgin Blue & CFS (Coffs Harbour)

Slightly off-topic but I was in CFS on Sunday 13 Feb flying QF on the 4.30pm CFS-SYD. I checked in about 2pm and noticed that a lot of VB passengers were checking into QF. Asked what was going on, and a PAX told me that a VB flight CFS-(think it was MEL) had been cancelled. If they had...

    Tricked by Qantas booking engine

Can't the bookings be cancelled, points recredited (less charges)? Qantas says: 14.8 Qantas & Partner Classic Awards - tickets cancellation & refunds 14.8.1 Classic Award tickets issued for travel on Qantas, oneworld Alliance Airlines or Airline Partners (other than Jetstar Asia (3K) or...

Mininum connecting time @Syd for Int to Dom QF flight

Don't forget there is a quick transfer Sydney from International to Domestic via the train. The only trick is to turn the correct way when you go through the Domestic train station barriers and up the escalators: . if QF, then turn right . if Jetstar, then turn left.

    Lost Bet..... Punishment is coming!

+1 Lawlass +1 meeting interesting people in Y. To make it a true Y experience for Bossreggie, I say NO lounges, but I grant him an exit row and no LCC.

Jetstar, not Qantas, as our national airline?

I agree. It's the "accountant's" attitude which only looks at cost, not at what the market segments want. Many public companies have gone that route to their cost. One of my gripes is the way that Q are moving so many services to "tourist destinations" over to Jetstar. I regularly fly...

Making use of double SC and going to Fiji - where to stay/what to do??

The Qantas Visa holiday brochure for Fiji lists all the hotels / Islands available and various options, extras etc. It can be downloaded from the Qantas site. Hotels can be booked without flights.

    REX and Sydney Airport.

Rex Aviation and Petition to ACCC Rex Aviation (NSW regional airline) is very concerned that the Sydney Airport Corporation Ltd is trying to force it (and other regional airlines) to fly to Bankstown rather than Mascot. Bankstown is much further out from the Sydney CBD and doesn't have the...

    Help for a new comer

Welcome to AFF, Chris. There are 2 major Australian domestic airlines: Qantas and Virgin. Qantas has 2 parts: Qantas full service (called Qantas) and JetStar, a low cost carrier (LCC). Qantas has the most services into the regions outside of the big cities so if you're flying into the regions...

So, is anyone going to holiday in Australia 2011?

A young Canadian couple (25ish) have just had their honeymoon in Australia. Toronto- Brisbane, had a couple of days R & R, then Hamilton Island, Port Douglas, Uluru (1 night), Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Melbourne, Sydney and home. They were here for a month, and stayed in at least 3 star and...

    AMEX not accepted or surcharge

This has probably been mentioned before, but Amex charge more to a retailer than other credit cards. When I had my business some 10 years ago, I definitely didn't take Amex (or Diners for that matter) but I did take both Visa and Mastercard. CBA had a promotion some 6 months ago "Switch from...

Making use of double SC and going to Fiji - where to stay/what to do??

Thanks to markis10, I now realise that I've been having "blonde" (my term!) moments trying to look for JASAs during the past 6 months - and I'm not even blonde! Correct method to find a JASA: Quickest way to check for low JASAs is to go to the Awards area, choose Classic - Business, and...

Making use of double SC and going to Fiji - where to stay/what to do??

Markis10 and I have now sorted this problem out. I was using the wrong steps to get to the JASA screen that gave the correct answers (not that Q warned me that there was a problem and it could be done for far less points). When I have some free time tonight, I'll document my exact steps...

Making use of double SC and going to Fiji - where to stay/what to do??

I agree. Also, the JASA's that everyone keeps talking about: having tried for 6 months to match what others are able to get, I'm now convinced that you have to have some status (Gold?) to be able to get the low JASA's. Me (Bronze) - no matter how I try, I would loose most of my carefully hoarded...

Chance of flying on the Qantas A380

What an embarrassment for Rolls Royce:oops:. My Business Studies students have been closely following the whole A380 incident, and have difficulty in believing how serious the problem was / is. They're so used to planes not falling out of the sky.

AA on sale (including London special deals)

I've been browsing the AA site this morning and notice that they have a large number of routes on sale. Also noticed that they have some good winter vacation specials (flight + hotel) to various places, including London for 6 nights at between US$599 and US$989 twin share. Packages end from...

    QF Status credit run

Thanks serfty. Now I know why I could never find the low points + money. After reading all the postings etc, I've also decided to go for Silver as I'm planning a longish o/seas trip next year and the lower requalifying SCs makes it easier to requalify before I leave. It was a toss up...
