OWA reward itinerary - QF responsibility when other carrier cancels a leg?

I think you mean OWA rather than OWE. OWE is usually used to mean OneWorld Emerald status. You might get more knowledgeable eyes viewing the thread with OWA in the title.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Yeah this part is very important IME (although personally I did rely on CheckMyTrip or MMB or other OW carrier's versions rather than speaking with someone at the QF call centres, but with CMT now useless it is not so easy). Not the same situation, but as part of my OWA last year, we were put...

Purchased a Qantas Flex fare but when I requested a refund they insist it is "Red-E Deal"

Based on that response, and the fact that the rep refers to 'Red-E Deal' a number of times when referring to an international flight, suggests the rep is looking at the code/s shown on their system and only looking at the domestic flight code list. I would try to push it further with them, but...

Booking 1 leg of a Rewards Flight?

Are you sure when you drill down that the first search result is not actually Taipei-Tokyo in business and then Tokyo-Bangkok in economy?

Managing Westjet flights booked on QF points

I tried this earlier in the year for a single CA-US flight - as soon as you have booked the tickets, it is no baggage according to either of the QF or WJ websites. I managed to get QF to refund (using similar screenshots) and booked a cash flight elsewhere. Not brave enough to take on trying...

    RTW Classic Rewards adding flights

While that is the correct name, you don't need to (and will likely achieve a better outcome if you don't) advise the phone operator anything other than 'I would like to book a reward flight' or 'I would like to add an award flight to my existing booking'. IME the vast majority of operators will...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Yes - I had the exact same issue with QR when trying to book flights home via DOH as part of my OWA last year. Back when plebs like me could occasionally reach Hobart, it was explained to me by a helpful and knowledgeable agent as a 'through fare' issue (after a number of O/S call centre agents...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

It doesn't sound like phantom availability, it just sounds like married/divorced sector logic that the phone agent is unaware of and therefore unable to explain (hence the frequent use of the 'only for new bookings' line).

Do you have high status with QF? Otherwise seems very unlikely an O/S call centre would be able to do this.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Looks like you have covered most of the OW routes from LHR (maybe chuck DOH and SIN in as well in case miracles happens), but just wondering how necessary is it to actually fly from LHR? Not sure on the specifics myself, but I believe taxes are quite high from there on J redemptions. You seem...

Different availability for re-booking vs new booking?

I thought it was applicable to any reward flight.

Different availability for re-booking vs new booking?

It will most likely be the Qantas system actually blocking them from adding a domestic reward flight to/from a major Aus airport to an international award into/from another one. Unfortunately the O/S call centres don't seem to be aware of this restriction, so just spout off whatever reason they...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Could maybe try dropping the MEL-SYD in the middle (and doing that as a surface sector on a separate reward or cash flight) and see if the system likes it then? From memory only the arrival point of a surface sector is the one which the system cares about. The SYD-DFW leaves pretty late in the...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Yeah I was thinking either that flight, or the system is not liking the 3 Sydney visits for some reason - maybe it thinks the last one is a third transit of SYD rather than the finish point due to needing to include theoretical flight/distance back to CGK? Should be able to do some dummy...

Has it got much harder to get decent points value for 2024?

I am not what availability is like, but Virgin/Velocity now have a tie-up with ANA, so could definitely look at transferring some of your Amex points to Velocity for Tokyo flights. Plus I believe there is a 20% bonus on transfers to Velocity from Amex at the moment.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

This is a slightly different issue (or perhaps a sub-class of the same issue) - QF for a while have deliberately blocked people adding domestic sectors to major airports (eg. Syd, Bris, Melb, Perth) onto an international reward flight from or into another major airport. It is a form of...

Might also note you can book each flight as soon as it is released with separate bookings, as opposed to having to wait for the last flight to be released with a single booking.

    Qantas classic reward seat release

I think things are pretty variable at the moment. In the middle of the year I picked up 3x J for SYD-NAN-YVR on FJ at 10am at 353 days. For some reason no return flights from YVR ever opened up on FJ (or QF). About a month later I got 3x J for LAX-SYD on QF12 at 10am at 353 days (although...
