AA's Admirals Club 30-day Membership: QF lounge access?

Hi FF2013, According to the Admiral's club membership rules, you are allowed to take 2 guests/family members with you. I had no problems doing this a couple of years ago, just make sure you print out your membership receipt in case you need to show proof. You will have the following lounge...

Using QFF points for internal US flights?

Also look at flying to TPA, relatively close-by to MCO and offers fairly cheap flights. Given the lack of Y award availability, I would pay cash for the cheapest segments (you can get NYC-MCO/TPA for US$100 or less) and look at F/J award for the remaining segments. LAX-NYC o/w in cash is...

    Strangest checkin luggage?

I once saw a group of fishermen check in their daily catch at Phu Quoc (Vietnam).. Lots of eskis full of small fish, but there were a few bigger fish that looked like Marlin or Spearfish - individually wrapped in tape, weighed and then straight onto the conveyor belt!!

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options If you're willing to max your budget, take a look at SFO-CLT-UVF (Saint Lucia), currently pricing at ~US$950 mid-April, which is excellent value IMHO for what is (usually) an expensive place to get to. For $75 more you can fly the A321T flat-bed...

    QC Silver?

A similar thing happened to Ms Galah when her SG status expired and dropped back to PS. IIRC she had 3 months of "Qantas Club Silver" after her membership year ended. It sounds like you should have QP access until end of your membership year, at least. Have you previously held SG status...

Has anyone been told by Qantas that some flights don't attract SC

This was the case previously, but it changed a couple of years ago so you now earn points/SCs even on deep discount O/Q fares with AA. These things change, so it's good to keep an eye when booking. Note: Qatar is another whose discount economy (O class) doesn't earn anything with QF.

    Hello from NYC

Thanks QF029. I made a call when moving here to maintain my QF status instead of shifting to AA, as my flying patterns were more likely to net better results with QF (and they have - I just reached WP on the weekend!). I would've only made Plat with AA (OWS) so it was a good choice for me...

    Hello from NYC

Too many taco places to list! Some of my favourites include Tacombi, Cafe Habana, La Esquina (and it's downstairs restaurant), Mission Cantina, and my favourite was a taco truck called Mexico Blvd until it closed down a few months ago. BUT - they have a sister restaurant open in Astoria...

Best A380 seats for a giant

I'm 6'4" and agree with timster that 71D and 80A/K are the way to go. However, I don't mind the bulkhead 32A/B/J/K - even though you can't fully straighten your legs out, you at least have the extra knee room and can cross your legs (foot on knee) easily. These seats also seem to be slightly...

    Hello from NYC

I was surprised at the quality of tacos on offer in NYC - they certainly have become a regular part of my diet since moving here  Chelsea Market is great - you really can't go wrong with any of the shops. I love the Lobster Place (in moderation), and often visit Tuck Shop for a meat...

    Hello from NYC

Thanks all for the welcome. I always wondered why pat was such an unpopular name  stoneman - You could try routing a YVR-PTY fare (currently around the US$600 mark) via MCO, but it might not allow more than a 24 hour stopover at that price. Enough for a quick thanksgiving dinner?

    Will I earn status credits?

Yes you will earn SCs for the AA marketed flight on AS. Here in the US, the baggage policy that applies to your flight is that of the operating carrier, not marketing (like elsewhere).. so I'm guessing that's why you got stung.

    Hello from NYC

Hi everyone, Long time reader, first time caller - ex-pat Aussie who flew the coop a few years back and now calls NYC home. I travel semi-regularly for work and leisure, and have gone to some great (MR) lengths to keep my QF status up! Happy to help out other US-based fliers with tips...
