Why don't you just book directly? Or book through a Virtuoso travel agent? For Virtuoso bookings, not only will you receive the Virtuoso benefits, but if you have SPG status you will also be entitled to the SPG benefits as well.

I agree that this is total cough. Just searched for MEL - PEK return for any time in the next year and the cheapest price is about $400 more than Kayak can find for just a random date I selected. Zero stars.

I signed up for this card about a month ago and unfortunately the Amex site is not offering me the link to refer a friend. It seems like the referral program might have a waiting period for new cardholders before you can refer others. :(

The referral bonus is back and this is not the case. With the referral, your friend gets $0 first year and 10k MR. :)
