    Cutting in on security lines

Sydney premium security lane yesterday afternoon. Queue actually longer than the standard lanes. The guy in front of me starts drifting right as we get closer to the front. He's gripped by indecision on diving for another lane or staying put. He ends up in no man's land dithering. Woman in front...

    QantasLink DHC8 vs Jetstar A320 flying BNE-MKY

The Dash 8 seating seems to be blocked at OLCI based on status and booking ref. If there are 3 CL or P1 on 3 separate bookings they will be allocated 1c/d and row 2 a/b and c/d. It then rolls back with platinum in the next couple of rows then gold. All status pay travelling alone seem to be...

    QantasLink DHC8 vs Jetstar A320 flying BNE-MKY

Of those options I'd take the dash 8 anyday. No seat selection till OLCI but as mentioned above p1 will more than likely get allocated row 1 or 2. On the older models (200 and 300) there is are 4 seats on the front rhs that might be ok if your kids are small.

Can you skip first flight of 2 flights ?

On a few occasions, before the first flight of a multi leg itinerary, one of us has unexpectedly ended up in the middle city. Qantas has always let us drop the first segment (no credit) for that person but honoured the remaining flights. It is handy but I wouldn't depend on it happening for 2...

    Plaza Premium in Brisbane

The service desk between gates 79 and 80 appears to be the place to go for transit passengers to find out options. You would think that a J seat would mean lounge access though.

    Plaza Premium in Brisbane

We did BNE NRT earlier this month. It was just show your boarding pass at the PP lounge entry for scanning (no separate pass). The lounge was pretty crowded at that time of day.

Best PE seats on Qantas 747

I don't mind PE as the extra service and space make mid to long haul tolerable. The PE seats are pretty comfortable with very good width and they recline a long way. That is both a bonus and a potential problem. For me if it is a daytime flight bulkhead is the way to go. Night flight I don't...

    Jetstar in-air fight

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou Their behaviour was probably no worse than is seen many days of the week in emergency departments and outside pubs in any decent sized town across Australia. Obviously there was an impact on the other...

    The totally off-topic thread

For me the point of travel is often the experience not the destination. Perhaps all these stories on home ownership and money are just reflections of people's experience not their destination. BTW I reckon owning a home has some downsides along with the benefits. Large home generally equals...

    Jetstar in-air fight

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou It may not be a soffistkated method but it does work if persisted with They bring that in and I am never flying again :)

    The totally off-topic thread

I'll not make mention of the fairly robust phased testing of drugs that has resulted in tens of millions of people being alive today that otherwise wouldn't be. To acknowledge that many if not all medications potentially have both beneficial and detrimental side effects. If there is black magic...

    QF-EK broken promises

And the promise bit is what I don't get. It's a very emotional and rigid view of business. Maybe it shows the attachment to Qantas beyond that of a typical widget business. Maybe it shows a rigidity in perception that some individuals experience. Personally I've leant towards judging a business...
