    Movies to watch

My recommendation is The Kingsman. It's a British spy film that doesn't take itself very seriously. It was a lot of fun and reminds me of the light-hearted approach taken by the older James Bond films. I definitely agree on American Sniper and Imitation Game and I'll add Wild to the list to...

Where to park for FREE near Melbourne Tullamarine

Be careful, it's not always theft but also damage from residents you need to worry about. I've seen more than a few cars coated in eggs etc. in Mascot streets. For residents unhappy about others parking in their streets, I'm sure it's obvious when a car has been parked their by a traveller.

Gift Cards / Vouchers - Why do they have expiry dates?

It's pretty marginal. The vast majority of redemptions are within 1-2mths of purchase so that's 1-2mths interest earned/saved. A benefit of maybe 1% of gift card sales value. Every percentage point counts, but it's certainly not a major incentive.

Gift Cards / Vouchers - Why do they have expiry dates?

My job gives me quite a bit of exposure to the financials that underly gift vouchers so I'd be happy to answer any questions. While the cash definitely doesn't sit in a tin under the CEO's desk, there is an accounting entry for the liability. Saying that, there is a very predictable...

    Suggestions for Koh Samui

Hi Everyone, My partner and I are treating ourselves to a short trip (4 nights) to Koh Samui in mid-December and are staying at the Conrad. The hotel has gotten great reviews and there's no doubt that a lot of our holiday will be spent relaxing in our villa. But I can't spend an entire holiday...

Spend $150, Get $50 Back on Amex Travel

This is potentially a good offer because I have a few trips to book at the moment. I've activated it on my two AMEX cards. But what does everyone think about the AUD requirement? If I book an overseas hotel through the AU AMEX travel website, does it charge me in AUD? Or Foreign Currency...

    Which Andriod phone

I highly recommend the Nexus phones. The pure Google software, without the manufacturer bells and whistles, always runs perfectly and always has the newest features. Give some consideration to the Nexus 5 or maybe even wait for the next Nexus to come out.

Claims Qantas is planning to ditch life rafts from some flights to save money

I'm pretty sure QantasLink flights (except LDH) don't carry life rafts. So maybe this isn't a new change.

    Bag wrap at SYD

FF Account just hacked and almost 300,000 points taken

What an unfortunate reminder to everyone about the security of their accounts. It does bother me that accounts of far less importance to me have far more security than QFF. I don't understand why they don't allow for longer passwords, sms verification, 2nd factor authentication etc.

Extra credit card surcharge for using a rewards card?

Merchants pay significantly more for "premium" (ie. rewards) credit cards. Usually it is the Visa/Mastercard interchange rates plus a designated fee for the merchant's bank. Visa's interchange fees are: Visa Australia | About Visa | Interchange | Interchange AMEX and Diners tend to be a flat...

Platinum (Possibly Gold?) Trick: Row 3 For Anyone!

Remember that booking row 3 isn't the same as sitting in row 3. When VA introduced the new ticketing system the apostrophe in my name was omitted from tickets which caused a conflict with the name on my WP Velocity account. The result was that my row 3 bookings kept printing out as halfway down...
