I've done it at a Hilton in the US, addressed as others have said above. There was no fee, I didn't tip, and I didn't forewarn them (it arrived 1 day before me - I'd tried to time it for just after my arrival but the estimated delivery time was generous).

My recent flights Australia to/from Singapore posted 1 day after the activity date, Singapore to/from Europe posted 2 days after the activity date (1 day after landing).

Interesting, in my experience Agoda has tended to be consistently the best for mid-range rooms in Asia (if only by a few cents - seemed to me they were gaming the comparison sites), but I've not tried since the Velocity tie up. Are the rates higher through the Virgin portal? I remember the old...

Not sure when it was implemented, someone else might know. I think I first did it when Sabre was fairly new and there were discrepancies in seat availability between the web and mobile check-in pages.

Not quite, as Fruitcake said above, if you select your seats at online (or mobile) check-in then don't proceed beyond that, they will stick. So you can choose at T-48, leave the page, then if the situation improves at T-24 you can choose again. Only finish the check-in when you're satisfied.

Hm is it better to earn Velocity points or Agoda reward points? Obviously the latter are restricted in their usefulness. Agoda says they're worth 4-7%, so if you value a Velocity point at 1-2%, earning 3x puts you in a similar ballpark.

Hm I quite like Agoda, for many destinations they were usually the cheapest on HotelsCombined (but now not indexed there?). Hope they stay competitive after the tie-up - I've never seen HotelClub come out cheapest.

Both are from Cubic, who also run London's Oyster card. And yes I think it's a massive shame that the systems aren't interoperable.

I also can't use POLi due to being with ING Direct. Wish BPay or direct deposit options were available.

Indeed the very tall colleague I had in mind would certainly have no qualms about the width ;) For such people squishing from the sides much more tolerable than knees wedged into the seat in front. Another reason that 3B might be taken is that people below gold seem to be able to get further...

A very tall person would almost surely consider 3B and 3E two of the most comfortable seats on the plane.

A colleague was recently able to choose row 3 at OLCI as a Silver on a route with business class. It was within T-24, not sure if that makes a difference as compared to T-48.

I too am wary of the boards but have not yet been let down by the announcements. If I'm worried that they aren't updating properly I often google the flight number - the online tracking sites seem to be quicker to show updated departure times.

Try mobile check-in at T-48 h (I've been able to select seats in row 4 this way), or based on recent posts above online check-in might now also allow you into those seats. Failing that yes ask at the airport, or even try kiosk check-in (last I heard this even lets reds and silvers move forward).
