Qantas eying flights to Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas & Athens

Chuck my vote in for Seattle, tonnes of work there! Lots of clients, tech. Good premium load for QF I’m sure.

Marriott hotels in Melbourne, which to choose? (W vs Sheraton vs Le Meridian vs Westin)

Stayed at Le Meridien, lovely location and hotel but yes agree with others the beds are incredibly hard. I spoke to the manager, they are aware of it - it’s a known issue and you can order mattress toppers and housekeeping will come and put it on your bed for you…. Good tip I thought I would...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

Seamless again out of SYD tonight. I actually thought there would be more teething problems but I think as many have already pointed out the computer doing the rejection makes it easier for staff to take on entitled corporates that ply the QF golden triangle!

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

Too big to fail…. So a few crashes now and then are tolerable especially if they aren’t in the US.

Six million people a year would use train to Melbourne Airport

Good news for MEL airport users with MEL airport backing down on the type of train station, wants it now open when the new third runway opens. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-07-08/vic-melbourne-airport-rail-line-station-compromise/104069626

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

Reporting back on SYD experience. Again, huge improvement. Told the boarding gate agent and they agreed said it’s been great for them too. Made boarding much faster. I didn’t hang back to see if there were many ‘turn back of gate lice’, saw just one as I boarded but appeared to be a genuine...

    Qantas Customer Remediation Program

Like many others I fall into the camp of ‘didn’t even know I was impacted’ as I wasn’t inconvenienced to the point of it even registering… I was rebooked onto flights minutes either side of the OG flights. Was travelling all through Covid and in the recovery phase heavily.

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

Another seamless experience out of MEL last night. It really has sped up boarding as well as giving premium pax a more reliable priority boarding experience. A couple of computer says no send backs of naughty ‘gate lice’ for amusement :) Flying out of SYD today will see how the rollout has...

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

OT I just have a feeling we are all going to be watching a 4 corners about that float and business at some point… something doesn’t smell right and it’s not their awful food 😉 On topic - it will be interesting to see how all the airlines including Virgin get through the winter domestic season...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

First experience this AM out of MEL (travelling by myself). Worked very well, early AM flight so mostly corporates but was enforced and saw a couple of computer says no beeps that sent people back to wait!

Why are so many planes registered in Ireland?

Tax tax tax or lack thereof. So many of the companies I work with have huge ‘random’ manufacturing operations in Ireland as well, because of the ‘structuring advantages’ it provides. Even with large shipping and logistic costs it still works out cheaper.

China announces visa-free travel for Australians visiting up to 30 days (previously 15 days)

I’m not sure it will. Mainland Chinese air traffic is not high yielding, alot of Western business has exited or significantly downsized presence in China, moving to other cities in the region. That leaves rather the typically low yielding F&F and tourists not exactly QF’s target market. It is...
