Credit Card Offers CommBank Ultimate Awards Card: 100K award points – potentially fee free

With the long exclusion periods now in place at other banks, this has become a competitive offering despite the high spend requirement.

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

Hyatt recently raised the categories (ie points prices) on pretty much all their Tokyo hotels. The Hyatt Regency is now in the highest price category, which tells you something!! Mad that a Regency is in the same category as the Andaz and Park Hyatt (when it reopens).

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

As you are peddling this as a sign of strength in another thread, let's look a little closer at these figures: - Points earned +10% Points earned in the same period the previous year was +12.5%. The growth rate in points accumulation has slowed by 20%. - Points redeemed +6% Points redeemed...

Thoughts on claiming reimbursements for FF tickets

Depends entirely on the organisation and their processes. More likely to succeed when you're using points for a class of service higher than they will reimburse you for (eg they'll pay $2,000 for an economy ticket & you are proposing to use points in order to fly business).

    Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

I don't think it'll be very hard for them to transition. They'll follow VA's lead. They'll keep the SC requirements and simply change from earning SC based on distance/fare class to earning SC based on dollars spent on bookings after a specific date. Initially it'll only be Qantas/Jetstar...

The new strategies you need to find reward availability in 2025

I agree. But for the vast majority of people, it's going to be tough to rack up enough points to fly long-haul J on these programs more than once every couple of years. All but the points whales are caught between a rock and a hard place in this brave new world.

The new strategies you need to find reward availability in 2025

Good article/podcast. It really is a case of Australia simply becoming more like the US, as is the case with many things in the frequent flyer world. AA and UA have confined their award releases at lower prices to close-in dates for a considerable amount of time now. DL offer basically no...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

It's likely a mistake. Has happened in the past (2018 or thereabouts IIRC). Happened to me. I'm entirely unworried.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

As I've calculated elsewhere, after the devaluation, there will only be a marginal difference between classic awards and classic plus outside of sale times. During sale times, the difference will be reduced to almost 0. That's how bad the devaluation is.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Better not hold onto them too long as they're about to lose considerable value come the devaluation later this year.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Worth noting that 30% transfer bonuses generally come around once per year on Amex and Chase, so only worth it if you're looking to book in the near future.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

    It's not hard to do the math yourself depending on the card. Eg $AUD100 spend ... AU Plat $100 * 2.25 = 225 AU Amex points = 143 US Amex points US 3x Card $100AUD = $63USD * 3 = 189 US Amex points

VA vs. QF - total package differences?

If you are looking for business class award seats at saver levels to Europe, the difference is night and day, especially if you're willing to take the conversion hit and transfer to SQ. It's not even close.

Case Study: How Matt Retained Qantas Platinum in 2025

This will be the last year I care a lot about retaining Platinum status, at least for the foreseeable future — who knows how the game will change. The biggest benefit of Platinum for me is the release of classic award seats. With the devaluation this year, it'll now be cheaper for me to buy...

Happened to me. Free $124 in each Amex account. Not complaining if that sticks. Edit: Actually, free $199 now lol

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

PR offensive ahead of the half yearly reports this week. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a backstory here. The AFR and OZ are the last two national papers left standing and compete fiercely. The AFR has been chief critic of Qantas the last couple of years. I wouldn't be surprised if...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Thank you for these excerpts. This is amazing because it now allows us to interrogate what 'this journalist' thinks is 'decently priced'. The cash fare was $13,809. The taxes and fees on a Classic Plus SYD-LHR business class return flight are $652 + $1,127. At 1.5c/pt, that means this...
