Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Not only that. There's a very strong chance the rates will be set higher than Virgin. Qantas status is more valuable than Virgin due to its oneworld benefits, so it stands to reason that they would.

    Airfares to US to drop?

Who said they were? The point is that, if you are worried about authorities (including Australia's) reading/collecting your data, international border crossings are a key source of exposure. A sensible way of mitigating that risk is to carry devices that do not contain this data. It is...

    Airfares to US to drop?

Not really. My employer provides burner phones and laptops to all employees traveling anywhere overseas as a matter of course. Fairly common for anyone working in an area that handles sensitive information.

    United to Fly to Adelaide

Wow. So much for the US airlines retreating from Australia in the face of lower demand!

    Airfares to US to drop?

A recent industry podcast suggests that Canadians are shifting their travel from the US to other destinations, so I expect direct flights to/from Canada to non-US destinations to increase rather than decrease.

Things Qantas Does & Doesn't Do Well

I do think one of the more interesting things that Qantas does well is cultivate a base of unquestioning loyalists. You'll find people on this forum, in the halls of Parliament and in the media who would be practically willing to take a bullet for Qantas. Nothing is ever the company's fault...

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Not really. SYD-LHR is challenging to get, even as a P1. Did you ask for a manual review?

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

EVA has lots of availability for its own members. In the US, people often get cards from the two banks that transfer to EVA — Citi and Capital One — simply for the ability to transfer there.

    Dumped in Joburg

Sounds like something Qantas would have known if they had a well-organised IRROPs plan.

    Dumped in Joburg

Did I say that? Did you even read the OP? They were told before the flight departed that specific accommodation had been booked for them. Over 15 hours later when they landed, that accommodation still had not been booked for them. And there were staff on the ground to communicate to...

    Dumped in Joburg

So what's the point of your comment then? By definition, a well implemented IRROPs system is one able to be employed in a variety of scenarios. It isn't an IRROPs system if it cannot handle irregular operations, which are — surprise, surprise — irregular lol. Edit: I'll add this is the most...

Are you saying Qantas adequately handled this situation?

The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Not correct. EK are happy to give you a cash upgrade at check-in/boarding on a QF ticket. Some check-in agents don't know how to to do it — you usually need to ask for a supervisor. Done it many times before.* Just trying to work out the going rate. Cost is far less than the cash difference for...

    Airfares to US to drop?

Don't sleep on flying into JFK. Lots of competitive fares into JFK from Australia & same distance to MCO as DFW (and way shorter than SFO/LAX).

Credit Card Offers Westpac Altitude Black Offers for Bonus Qantas, Velocity & Altitude Points

Westpac & St George are separate. But all Westpac programs are treated as one.

The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

F cabin is empty. They don't typically offer upgrades on Qantas codeshare flights (ineligible), so I'm fairly certain I'll have to wait until the flight goes under airport control and it'll only be available in cash.

Classic Reward Business Class Release Timing

Neither. The most accurate way to describe the current QF release of award seats is a range between non-existent to a small, random trickle.

The Emirates First Experience - What to Expect?

Any recent data points on the cash upgrade cost from J to F at check-in/boarding on an Australia to Dubai leg? Flying J on a QF codeshare ticket, so unfortunately unable to upgrade using SkyMiles.

Article: Should Qantas Have a Minimum Reward Seat Guarantee?

How would you feel if Qantas did release this data (they never will — so this is purely hypothetical) and it turned out 2x J + 2x F seats were being released on every single Qantas flight? It's just that only CL were getting them through release of reward seats on the most in-demand routes.

Article: Should Qantas Have a Minimum Reward Seat Guarantee?

You can use your points for any flight. It's just not at a rate that anyone would consider good value.
