I'd request a refund (not a credit) for the components of the product not provided. If a refund was not forthcoming, I'd lodge a disputed transaction on the credit card used.

Not saying AC is guilty of this, but US based carriers could better use the seat belt sign. From my experience, they keep it on far too long after take off, and before landing. Also, they often leave it on for long periods of time with no further explanation. It's like the boy who cried wolf...

That sort of response from AMEX is unusual. In my experience they're very helpful, and responsive. Call them back, and escalate the call to the supervisor. I'm not sure if the FOS has the power to investigate a dispute such as this - but tell them you're investigating your options?
