Last Minute Sydney->LAX Upgrade + Noob Questions

The operating equipment (737 vs A330) has no bearing on the points cost to upgrade. The difference here will be that QF654 is booked as a Red e-Deal (Discount Economy) and QF645 is booked as a Flex (Flexible Economy) fare type.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I don't think I was rude or aggressive though. It was a "Sorry, I didn't seem to have gotten my starter", "No I don't mind having the main first", "Yes I'm very sure".

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

These service recovery points seem very arbitrary. Earlier this year I got 2k points + bottle of wine on a QF international J flight, when the cabin crew forgot to serve me my starter. Had to raise it to the crew when they served my main, which resulted in getting my starter (as ordered) after...

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

It was there at 6am when I was there late last year. I've never tried the service though.

    CX What can I do?

A charge back is always the last resort, you need to try and work it out with the merchant in the first instance. How do you know you didn't initiate a charge back on the charges which actually related to your flights? You should have called Cathay and asked why there was so many charges, and...

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

In my line of work we do Usability Testing, sometimes multiple rounds to determine what works best for a realistic cross section the target user base. You would hope that Qantas (and every other airline with a 'creative' video) has done the same.

New TRS rules? Goods no longer included in cap?

There was a recent episode of Border Security where they re-charged the GST for a $16,000 Rolex that someone had purchased on a different trip, four weeks prior. It looked unused though, and the person seemingly was doing this for many many items and making the trips deliberately.

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

Well Darwin is the closest major airport. A bit like how you'd fly to Sydney Airport to visit the Blue Mountains. I certainly flew in to Darwin when I visited Litchfield, Kakadu, Nitmiluk. Litchfield would be more correct, though Darwin is probably more recognisable.

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

Looking at the news article posted earlier, it does say the below explicitly.

Yes. I wasn't trying to say your post in any way was harsh, but the article itself.

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

I feel like this article is very harsh, especially with the use of strong words such as "elitist" and "sexist". You'd think a major incident involving HR occurred by the tone of the article. This style of video is hardly new. Must have missed the news on the effectiveness of the JAL safety...

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

I really do think QF hit the mark just fine on the first video, it would still pass as a good video now if they just updated the logo. Unfortunately that was the shortest lived of all the safety videos, barely lasting a year. Qantas Safety Video - 2016

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

Would've had a good chuckle if there was a someone with a "World Platinum" bag tag showing us his/her favourite "environment".

    2024 Qantas Inflight safety video

The YouTube version is normally a longer video which is cut down for in-flight viewing. Though this new one is still over a minute longer then the centenary version. The 2016 video was a whole 4 mins shorter - and I think that rates as my favourite. I managed to finish watching it, and I agree...

    Qantas Damaged Bag

So going back even further, when I did a claim upon arriving back to Australia with a damaged handle in 2014. Report of damaged bag was sent on the 15th November, claim was processed and I got a response on the 4th December. So a little less then 3 weeks? The resolution was a straight forward...

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

That's more of a 'legacy' lounge though, which is being replaced by a business only lounge and really should have been many years ago. There are cities that had an F lounge, but were taken away when service stopped (EG BKK, SIN). Though it does beg the question, did QF ever have an F service to...

    Qantas Damaged Bag

The last time my checked bag was damaged was 6 years ago. Came off a QF flight in SIN and noticed a corner had been smashed in. Went to the baggage counter, a report was written up, luggage was collected from the hotel that night, and a brand new one delivered 1 or 2 days later. Was quite...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

Could it be that Navan doesn't display the operating carrier when using the mobile phone / app view? Is there an email or pdf or desktop browser version of these pages and confirmations? You wouldn't have a ticket confirmation from Qantas if you booked through a TA (Navan).

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

Interesting. My corporate provider is not Navan, but still very obviously indicates QF 291 (Operated by /FINNAIR FOR QANTAS), twice when selecting and twice again when confirming. I assume the information comes from the GDS because it's the same way the tool shows the operating carrier for...
