Platinum caught out with VA baggage ex CBR

Don't blame the poor old lead!!!! It most likely was the white coloured paint with the lead, not pink and not used as a gloss. And all that after attending two lead conferences in Milan and Lisbon last week!!!! When I'm travelling, I like watching the weights, not that I'm over, but just see...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

The bit of stress was worth it, I can post these with my returned computer. Walking the Oued Sous this morning.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

But far better than sitting out in the domestic waiting area, been here for 5 hours! Least the seats are soft, although do need a clean......

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

First time on RAM, Milan > Casablanca. Taking weekend off for birding down Agadir so not going to pay the 1,200 euro for J. In 9A and 8A seat is broken and in permanent recline. Had my laptop out to do some work but impossible with the seat in from so I put it down the side and forgot it when I...

How does Marriott treat you as an elite?

Well, the circus is about to start again! I found another thing "lost" from the hotel room, which tends to be familiar with Marriott's: my double-walled glass cup, my travel jug, and now my 512G memory card, which I found "missing" this morning. I pulled my room here in the London Maida Vale...

    Sri Lankan Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

I had a look at the Arrivals/Departure board in CMB the other day whilst in transit, and nearly every flight was delayed to some degree. Nothing too bad, but even the other airlines were delayed. Would not mind my FRA > CMB leg being delayed next month as it would mean a full day in FRA and not...

How does Marriott treat you as an elite?

Yes. I'm currently in the Marriott Maida Vale, and the same for a paid visit, even the gift of 1,000 points. But sadly they have closed the lounge on the 7th floor and they give you a card/pass for the restaurant. I enjoyed the lounge as it looked straight down Edgeware Road.

    Sri Lankan Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

Tuesday out on time, along with UL601 to CDG. Now sitting in the Prime lounge that BA uses and it's far better outside. What a load of cough. It took 49 minutes for J luggage to come off.

    Sri Lankan Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

Yes, I have been watching the MEL > CMB and the CMB > CDG flights for the last few weeks. The MEL flight averages about 1 hour late, but the Paris flight is a little better.

    Sri Lankan Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

Fingers crossed for next Tuesday, MEL > CMB, then CMB > CDG. My BA leg CDG > LHR is worrying me a bit as I have four 1/2 hours down in CDG then up the LHR.

    Not Aiming for Lifetime Gold

I'm now entering my fifth LTG period! (There was nothing from QF on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, but I didn't expect anything) And once complete, just to make it a marathon, QF make you do another 5,000 SC lap for the LTP award. I've done the projections and it's about 8 years away at my current rate...

    Conference destination in asia

I had more feedback about REP than all the other conferences put together. The majority of pax had been to the bigger Asian cities and never considered Cambodia. It was a bit of a risk to do a large event there, but it's created its own problem now in that delegates want to go "off track" now...

    Conference destination in asia

I'm the Chair of two international conferences that are held biennially in the Asian region. The largest one with 1,000 pax started in 1986, the other in 2009. Our next one is in 2025 and will be held in Kota Kinabalu; the last 2023 was in Siem Reap. The delegates were just blown away with REP...

    Booking Sri Lankan Airlines?

Taking my fourth trip to Europe with them in September. I always book through their website, although there is a little trick to getting the airport into the search form. I travelled with them when Sri Lanka was a mess, and although we had a hotel room, there was no petrol to take us there. We...

Is the Australian Landing Card Still Necessary in the Written Form?

Like most things these days (e.g., AFL, Cricket, Olympics, etc.), it's probably tied up in a TV agreement. Where would Channel 7's "Border Security" be without grilling the Asian passenger with a bag full of veggies? "You filled this card out ........ blah blah blah."

Malaysia Airlines - Can't input QFF number

Just make sure if you have the old 6-digit QF number, add a zero. I forgot to do it recently on one MA flight and I didn't get the SC's.

    QANTAS talking to the disaffected!

I agree, but I think, like you, it's been over a long period of time, and our stories are now the "fish & chip" wrappers. At some point you have to stop banging your head against the wall (Qantas) and get on with your travelling life. Also, like you, most of my travel has moved away from QF, I...

    QANTAS talking to the disaffected!

I've been sitting on the sidelines for a while reading this and other threads about QF, changes, gripes, etc etc, but I just see it as pointless other than to expel grievances. This is QF's business model!!! It makes money, and they "ain't" going to change. When you replace a CEO with the CFO...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

The "nonsense combination" is actually a basic electrolytic reaction; for silver, the black tarnish (Ag2S) is converted back to silver and Al2S3 formed. Hot water increases reaction times and the salts increase pH and ion transfer. Ultrasound only cleans and doesn't remove sulphides/oxides.
