You can apply for the Amex Explorer Personal card as they will allow this card to be used for business expenses. Then if you have the Amex Platinum Edge as well, you can combine Gateway into Ascent for both cards effectively netting 2 (proper) FF miles per dollar for the Explorer card.

Just made my 5th call to Amex and got an Aussie call centre. Rebecca confirmed that you can definitely combine the Gateway into Ascent but it must be the Explorer Personal card. Unfortunately it cannot be done with the Explorer Business card ☹️ Which is what I have........Doh!

Called them on Christmas Eve around 14:00 and got a friendly CSO who said she would try and process this now for me. Alas, the system would not allow her to combine the 2 programs. She said she would enquire further with the back office and get back to me if it could be done. I am not very...

Have so far made 3 calls to Amex and no one is willing to make the change. They say it can't be done because they are different programs. I will keep trying though.

Thanks for the info on this gents! I already have the Platinum Edge card as well. If I call them and they agree, would they just transfer the points from Gateway to Ascent? Or would they just start putting all points into Ascent?How does it work? Cheers, Mitch

Thx Daft009, I am wondering how you can get 2 x KF Miles per $ when the best I can see is 1.5 after conversion from the Gateway Rewards program. Am I missing something? Cheers, Mitch

Thx Pointy Bird, I am curious to ask how you can get Ascent Rewards linked to Amex Explorer? When I applied, it was linked to Gateway Rewards which is only 1.5 (proper) miles per $. Cheers, Mitch

Good to hear! And agree wholeheartedly! I rarely fly Qantas due to the availability problem and value SQ points far more. With the Dragon CC, you also get a 10% birthday bonus then equating to 0.825 miles per $. Do you use Reward Pay for ATO at all? If so, what is the % cost? I have the Amex...

Hi Cove, Just heard the news that our favourite Westpac Kris Flyer Amex Card will be defunct in April. Very sad... I wanted to ask if the Visa Card you mentioned above is Amplify? I have this visa card and was sure it was ATO friendly but heard that it may have changed. Have your points posted...

Hi Cove, I pay my land and water rates and power bills thru postbillpay.com.au and use PayPal which has an Amex card as the payment source. There is also no surcharge! Cheers Mitch
