If WA Gov was on QF's side they would have built the new train station closer to T3/T4! Good to see taxpayer money funding more QF flights. I'm sure the net income to WA from the spending any additional travellers these direct flights generate is way more than what we are giving to QF. Of course.

I remember the days when QF had very cheap F fares from the EU - fly BA to LHR, and then pick up the QF flight to SIN/BKK/HKG. About £2500 pounds ex Germany back in 2007/2008. Bargain compared to the domestic J prices quoted here!
