SHUT THE BORDERS! But seriously, haven't they figured it out by now?

Not if it was a notarised stamp in your passport that you have to pay for and has the security features of an entry visa. Or if it was incorporated into the e-data in an electronic passport like your biometrics are.

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

We had a layout like this when Barry was young. We referred to it as the airlock and always made sure it was shut before we left the house. Now he's old, he rarely bolts but it was a godsend when he was young.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

This isn't going away any time soon. We NEED to set up stand-alone quarantine facilities like the camp at Howard Springs. Delays just increase the risk of more cases escaping hotel quarantine.

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Short trips away, we generally get in a service that comes and feeds the cat and sits with him twice per day. Longer trips away, we fish around for a young person to come and live with Barry. We put him in a cattery once and he was shaken up for weeks afterward. And then we had a catsitter leave...

Agreed. It's @Lynda2475 who disagrees with this. Now more than ever with China muscling up. (we really should stop selling iron ore to them, it's going to be used to make weaponry and tanks etc)

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

My understanding is that QLD hospitals are full of people from PNG who've been transferred here for better treatment than they can get there. There are two in Bundaberg Base Hospital for a start.

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Been a few traumatic days here at Chez Suze as Barry went in for teeth cleaning (second time in his life) and had to have one of his canines removed. The alternative was $3000 worth of dental work to drill and fill, didn't seem worth it when there's little use for it in a very spoiled domestic...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Disagree that Premiers closing borders is irrational. Having lived through the Melbourne lockdown and then travelled through NSW to QLD in November last year, I would do ANYTHING to avoid another year like that. If that means jettisoning the other states, and not seeing family and friends...

They only book him a couple of days out from travel, and his latest trip got cancelled due to the outbreak in QLD. I'll come back if something else comes up, if the passes are still available, thanks anyway.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I just don't understand why oh why we haven't learnt from the Victorian experience and implemented daily testing on workers in covid areas. It's not a huge impost and would have prevented this from happening. They do saliva swabs rather than nasal I believe, which means they aren't unpleasant at...

You've been on the train. I would have thought that would have been enough for put you into iso. :( Couldn't get a flight out of BNE?

    General Medical issues thread

Broke me leg on a weekend away in Gippsland. Nightmare. Waited forever for an ambulance, long trip to ED, nightmare ED experience, 10 days in hospital (thank F for HBF) and now stuck at home with a leg full of metal. Don't fall over. And if you do, don't do it 90 mins from a hospital.

Pilot sues for alleged traumatic QantasLink/Cobham event

Haha yes, I work in a hospital and some of my colleagues are afraid of needles (and one of blood!), which I find weird and would have thought would be an automatic red flag.

Pilot sues for alleged traumatic QantasLink/Cobham event

I don't understand how you can think that. More money = more treatment. Physiotherapy costs money! Massage treatment costs money and so does Panadeine, which I sucked down for years after that. And I got a stomach ulcer from anti-inflammatories. And almost nothing I have done over the years...

Pilot sues for alleged traumatic QantasLink/Cobham event

Accident No 1: I went with a lawyer and got $20K which was almost $18 after the lawyer's fees were taken out. Accident No 2: went direct, got $4K Which do you think was the better outcome? Both collisions happened within 2 years of each other and were almost identical scenarios where the...

Pilot sues for alleged traumatic QantasLink/Cobham event

Which costs money. And they also deserve to live above the poverty line for the remainder of their lives, I would have thought. Which is what the compensation is for. I have had two whiplash injuries that resulted in payouts when I was young, but the pain lingers and the money I have spent on...

    Virgin priority boarding fail

Oh I agree it's too low to be workable, especially if you have a laptop and toiletries to carry. Just trying to tease out the historicals.
