Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I don't understand why NSW is so desperate to get rid of masks on PT. To me, that seems like an outbreak prevention no-brainer.

    VA economy food & drinks

There's no sandwiches because they would need to be made fresh. Nothing on that menu is fresh. That said, the prices don't seem any worse than last time I flew VA. I love those Moreish nuts. :)

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Be as sanctimonious as you like, but this is all political and there is an election due next year and people will remember. And I don't know if you've noticed but we haven't locked anyone out recently.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

One of the things the person bleating about this forgets is the level of fear in Vic relating to HQ. I think there's a lot of Melburnians (if asked) would prefer not to risk any arrivals here at all.

Car rental rates during the pandemic

:O Hertz is my fave rental company.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I'm sure the NSW Health Dept will find that particularly helpful.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

They are a public service, of course they are bound by what the Premier said!

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

For about a week now, I have been wanting to report a restaurant for not displaying or enforcing checkins (and they are in the area of interest for this outbreak), and the link the DHHS supplied for reporting is broken!!!!!

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

It might be 28 mins out of peak hour, but 13 years ago, I was stuck in peak hour between Palmerston and Darwin and it took at least 40. Also, both the Western Hospital and Geelong are more than capable of dealing with the small number of cases that would need hospitalisation. I'd have more...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

This is the thing that confounds me. We have Avalon airport. The planes can land RIGHT THERE and put the people right into their own cabins straight from the plane - or use golf carts or similar to transport them (open air style so they can't give covid to the drivers) to the cabins. People...

A PERfect ride to the Southern Lights

I was once on a flight MEL-PER and the Captain came on the PA and announced that if you looked out the window to the south you could see the aurora, but alas, I could not see anything. Maybe there was a soft glow, but my overriding memory of it is being really disappointed. I didn't know then...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

What bothers me is why foreigners are being allowed to take up space in quarantine for reasons like this while we still have Aussies stranded overseas.

    Disappointing Qantas Club Experience

Yeah, those passes only get you into QP, and nothing when you are overseas (found that out the hard way). Next month I'll be flying J one way with QF (MEL-BNE) and return with VA (OOL-MEL), so I'll be able to report back about that.

A PERfect ride to the Southern Lights

Do you think you might have had a better view in Y - with less hardware between the aisle seats and the windows?

Help!! - who do I kill.... [Insulin taken at Security, no Notification]

Yeah I know. But I'm only going to QLD, the likelihood of losing the luggage isn't high and it's not like their aren't pharmacies up there where I can get a replacement for the prescription.

Help!! - who do I kill.... [Insulin taken at Security, no Notification]

As this story unfolds, my best guess is that the esky fell over in the conveyor and the insulin fell out. Or all the contents did and the insulin was not returned with the rest. He should put a luggage strap around it in future to prevent this. And not just in airports. It is of interest to me...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Rubbish. If they are willing to inflict it on the public (and I am in total agreement that quarantine is required), then they should do their time in the same manner as the rest of us.

So don't have them. Delegate. That's why they have deputies. Who was doing all that while she was OS?

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yeah, but my problem is the air escaping up my cheeks to fog up my glasses. I made ear savers myself (crochet - my coworkers loved them) and tried them, and it's not the answer for me. It's just another situation where "one size fits all" is a load of bs.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I have tried the duck-bill type mask for work during the swine flu epidemic - it was fine, but I didn't enjoy wearing it. I find cloth masks to be intolerable because no matter what, I cannot breathe through them (I've tried lots), and also my glasses fog up. Standard surgical masks are no...
