Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I think we really need an angry face react on AFF.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I wish other people would just repost the gem and save the rest of us the pain.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Whatever happened to "looking after your own needs" - you know, what most young men do, most of the time? I mean, come ON! If they can't be celibate for 2 months, what do they do when their wives get pregnant and give birth?

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

YES it does need a curfew. The police do not have unlimited staff to check every car on the road. Fewer people out of their homes means fewer police required to check on them. During Melbourne's second lockdown, with the 5km limit and curfew in place, people who worked in *essential industries*...

    General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

But a question before you order the test: eg, have you had the UQ vaccine recently? (because it's supposed to have been a transitory positive, which means it's only a concern for a period of time, not your whole life) might lead to follow-up testing and less of a panic. Pretty sure it's standard...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I can imagine the War Generation rolling their eyes at our entitlement - refusing to stay home for a few weeks/months because we are sick of it.

    General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

Maybe, but really how many people get HIV tests? It's not like it's a common thing for doctors to request.

    General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

I still don't understand why the work on the UQ vaccine was abandoned. I don't see transitory positive HIV results as an issue. An HIV viral load test would quickly have sorted out which people really had HIV.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I agree, but aggressive suppression IS achievable. You only have to travel from MEL to BNE to see the benefits of living an almost covid-free life. (ETA: also witness the number of people flocking to QLD for their holidays) And also the recent small outbreaks in MEL and BNE and PER were...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

It's clear from the Melb experience last year that the existing rules are not strict enough. Blind Freddie can see that.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The "lockdown" is too soft. All non-grocery retail must be click and collect. Hardware stores open for trade card holders only - otherwise click and collect or delivery. Cafes and restaurants to close everything except a single takeaway window. Florists again click and collect or phone and...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

As was demonstrated last year during the Melb lockdown, a business has every right to refuse entry to a person on private property if they will not comply with entry requirements. (Bunnings employee vs "sovereign citizen" has been well hashed out) Unless the laws are very different in Tassie, I...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

This is where enforcement and large fines come in. It only took a few well-publicised cases where people copped huge fines for being out of their zone for no reason to make the majority of others fall into line. And as a side note: one of the big reasons they didn't want people driving long...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I still don't understand this. It's been done everywhere else. And on this point: ASKING people to stay home (as Gladys has been) is insipid and ineffective. TELLING them to stay home and REMOVING the reasons they go out by closing retail except essential, and all social events, and gyms FFS...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Except it's not a proper lockdown, is it?

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I don't understand the attitudes being posted here. Why not lockdown with the intention of getting case numbers back down to acceptable levels? Melbourne did it last year. To my mind, it's the only way to keep the NSW in the federation. Or there really will be a situation where NSW is cut off...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Not to downplay the work involved, but surely you weren't surprised by this, given the case numbers?

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I can tell you that my own hospital is fully prepared should it need to re-open its planned covid capacity. The wards are still there and the equipment is in storage.

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Barry in the first few years after we adopted him would not sit in our laps. But he DID like Big Cat Diaries.
