I've done SYD - YVR a few times in J with Air Canada. Good flights - herringbone configuration - I remember thinking it was a bit wider than the CX ones. Good flight, good service and the big bonus of avoiding LAX

Not sure whether it counts as a double dip but during the Qantas grounding my PER - LAX flights were cancelled and I flew with Malaysia (PER-KUL-LAX). I got an original routing credit from Qantas plus the points from Malaysia.

I think this is the bit that I don't get about PE - I see the cost of the seat to be almost solely related to the amount of space that you get and I couldn't really care less about the food and wine. In Y I get very little space in Y+ I get fractionally more space at more than twice the price...

I've been pretty lucky on the SYD-LAX route. I seem to get a free upgrade about 1 in 3 times I've done this route in the last couple of years (five J to F upgrades from the last fifteen times across the pacific - 3 in the A380, twice in 747):D.

I think they're referring to the ones that Sweeney Todd used to use - cut throat razors. I went through LAX the day after the shoe bomber had a go and had all my bags emptied and scrutinised (never seen choas like it). No problems with the razor.

Same here - my Gillette gets packed (when I remember). Never had any problems. For shaving foam I use those small cans of Gillette Foamy that Qantas used to have in the J toilets (nowadays I have to rely on F upgrades or Emirates flights to restock)
