A questions about baggage and points

Hi, I'm just about to book a flight with Delta - one thing I couldn't quite work out, do you pay the checked in luggage fees up front when you buy the ticket or at the airport when you check in?

    EK bookings on QF website?

Yes - all on the same PNR. The sequence you describe above explains it (I'm on EK, EK, QF, EK and it's the first flight that's missing). Thanks

    EK bookings on QF website?

I've got four EK flights coming up over the next couple of weeks (all EK codes, three out of the four on EK metal, one on QF metal). They all (obviously) appear on the EK website but when I go into MMB on QF I can only see three out of four with the missing flight being the first one (on EK...

    The WP shadow

Over the last couple of weeks I've flown on QF, AA, AC and UA and the only time I got a shadow was on the UA flight. I found myself in an aisle seat on the very back row of Y and had a spare middle seat next to me (the only spare seat on the plane). I did, however, gallantly swap seats with the...

Airports you've never left! (Well... only transited through!)

Hong Kong and Santiago are my only two, although I've only been landside in Dallas because of flight cancellations.

Does having a High Frequent Flyer status make you fatter?

This is what I do - especially in the US, small plate of fruit for breakfast and then either lunch or dinner (but not both). Really this is just to counter the lack of exercise when I'm away

    Shoes for Travel

I can beat that - a couple of years ago I travelled to the US/Canada for two weeks. Decided not to put any shoes in my carry on but to wear my black business shoes and make do with them in the evening. Early morning flight Per to Syd (about 5:30 am from memory) so I decided to do the decent...

    Perth Qantas lounge

I was in there this morning as well (on the sydney flight) and, as usual, couldn't see what the fuss is about. All looked fine and well behaved.

    Original Routing Credit

Hi, I had a search for this but couldn't find a situation exactly the same as this. I've generally had good experience when asking for an ORC, however these have all been due to involuntary changes. I've got a flight coming up in a couple of weeks time, Mel - Per in J on QF. Currently I'm...

How quick did you make Platinum?

I hit WP after about 5 weeks this year (1st Aug to first week in Sept) and then PG by mid Oct. Haven't flown since and probably won't be on a plane until Feb next year. I expect to requalify for WP1 but wouldn't chase it unless I was only a hundred or so SC short. Special service team are...

How do Qantas treat you as an elite?

My preference (in J) would be QF then BA then CX. I'm always quite happy with the way I'm treated by QF, although I think, as someone else posted, the main benefit of status seems to be before flying. I find the CSM greeting only happens to me in J (and sometimes the CSM is just going round the...

Should P1's and CL be "guaranteed" seat selection?

I'd keep quiet about this if I was you - if we're not careful we'll realise that the great unwashed with no status who fly once a year actually provide a big chunk of revenue and they'll end up sitting at the front with the CL's ;)

Should P1's and CL be "guaranteed" seat selection?

My faith in EF diminishes every time I fly - usually it shows a shadow right up until the moment I get on the plane and introduce myself to the person sitting next to me. In fact last week I had a shadow showing just before I checked in and when I got to my seat (11E on the A380 there were two...

Should P1's and CL be "guaranteed" seat selection?

I don't think this is quite true. You may be right that for my SYD - DFW flight next week the person in 5B is more important than me in QF's eyes, or it may be that they're less important but they were able to book there flight before me. The question really is "should someone who QF feels is...

Should P1's and CL be "guaranteed" seat selection?

Always enjoy reading the responses that Feper manages to generate. I have to say, in this case I'm tending towards agreeing with him (the sentiments, although perhaps not the way that they're expressed). I generally don't end up with my preferred seat selection because I'm invariably booking...

Mini TR: SIN to SYD BA747 J main (lower) cabin

QF10 in about an hour - so hopefully I won't get a droopy one (although having spent the last couple of hours in the lounge I probably wouldn't notice).

Mini TR: SIN to SYD BA747 J main (lower) cabin

Skybed MK II - much more comfortable, nicer cabin. BA J - too narrow and the cabin is too cluttered. However, I do try to take a BA flight every few months because of that stern way the FA's talk to me (you can take the boy out of the public school but you can't......etc....etc). ;)

    Showers - LHR T1

You don't have to stay airside - I used the AC lounge so that I could shower and get my shirt pressed prior to heading over to T1

    Showers - LHR T1

I'd check the opening times - I've just had a shower at the AC arrivals lounge in T3 - I arrived on QF9 just before 6:00am and was in the arrivals lounge by about 6:15. I'm sure that I wasn't the first to arrive either. Also I'm currently sitting in the BA/BMI lounge in T1 and can confirm - no...

    Perth-syd QF international connection

Although I haven't done PER - SYD - DFW I've probably done PER - SYD - LAX a dozen times on the last 2 - 3 years. I think the SYD - LAX flights usually leave slightly earlier than the DFW flight (i.e. it's a tighter connection). I've never missed a flight so far and even when the Perth flight...
