    SCTI insurance query

I bought an SCTI policy for a trip to Europe starting in a couple of weeks. Purchase was back in May and according to the website coverage started back then. Since then my flights have been moved a couple of days earlier. Looking at the policy docs it seems coverage starts when you buy the...

    New Baggage Allowance To USA?

What is most astounding about this policy is that the baggage allowance can (often?) be less on the return than it was outbound.

    New Baggage Allowance To USA?

Never lock your luggage, any nogoodnik is going to have TSA keys, they’ve been posted on the internet; and, bizarrely, no customs agent seems to have them. I’m not even sure what the purpose of fitting locks to luggage is. Just set your combination to 000, never add an extra lock and look out...

    New Baggage Allowance To USA?

I had to go look this up, because I thought the ‘most significant carrier’ rule applies and what do you know it doesn’t. AA code on your first flight then the AA rules apply. QF code and the QF rules apply. This seems like a stupid rule to me but assuredly someone is making money out of it...

    AdBlocker Detected!

I am getting told to uninstall my adblocker, I don’t have one (iOS safari). As you can see from this screenshot I am being served an advert and the only thing blocking me from seeing the ad is the message telling me to turn off my ad blocker.

Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

I just went through the process and nowhere did it ask if I was going to Indonesia.

Is there a walk-up Customer Service counter at QF HQ in Mascot?

An interesting question. When I worked for a major, listed energy retailer we didn’t have a walk up customer service desk but we did have a series of small meeting rooms in the lobby. Customers, the general public and small shareholders would walk up to reception fairly regularly and their where...

Transit on a multi city ticket

Not sure when you are going but I would be wary of transiting Sri Lanka right now. The economic situation is dire, the country is bankrupt and there are ships full of fuel waiting to dock because the cargoes have not been paid for. Sri Lankan is a state owned carrier and I worry about their...

Qantas booking through Japan Airlines (JAL) - Seat Selection

JAL website can be really picky about names. Make sure that you put your first and middle names which no spaces in the first name box. I have a hyphen in my surname that trips up the last name (remove that too). Also note that the first and last name boxes are in the reverse order compared to...

    OneWorld Japan Trip 2023

CNS to NRT or KIX will definitely be the shortest segment you can do at 7h25, BNE-HND is blocked at 9h25. There isn't really a way to go that shorten the longest segment. (CNS-POM-MNL-NRT is doable in theory but a lot of hassles to shave that longest segment by a couple of hours)

Which phone do you colleagues use and succeeds in QFF app

Google has just launched Google Wallet today, as the central repository for things like boarding passes. Interested to see what phones support it and when QF does. https://techcrunch.com/2022/05/11/google-launches-google-wallet/

    Rebooking hassles with JAL

Expert flyer is showing our original flight operating with Y1 availability MEL NRT but J9 D9 C9 availability NRT to FRA. Something odd is going on. Otherwise I found a route that looks like this with SYD CGK in Y but otherwise compliant with the rebooking rules.

    Rebooking hassles with JAL

JAL have posted an update to their European routes page today. https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/info/2022/other/220303/?m=important_notice Looks like May 17th is the next update for the European schedules at least, If that had come out before I had called, I would have held off calling till then.

    Rebooking hassles with JAL

That's what I'm hoping. Things are starting to go bad - I checked my booking and I've been ticketed on QF9 in W. If I have to be downgraded, and I do have to get there by a certain time, this is my least favoured option, QF1 would be much preferred. I did tell them this on the phone.

    Rebooking hassles with JAL

I booked a good business class fare to Europe in July with JAL (through Chase ultimate rewards as I had some points to burn). I'm now on my second rebooking with JAL, first one was a simple schedule change, no worries there. Second one is because all they canned the melbourne flight . I've just...

Which phone do you colleagues use and succeeds in QFF app

Apple have a better rep for long term support of their products than many Android manufacturers. Support currently extends all the way back to the iPhone 6s that was released in 2015, and sold through 2018. The google pixel 3, launched in 2018 and sold through 2020, got turned off for updates...

Does anyone know if the extra checked bag benefit applies to 'light' (HBO) fares or do you have to buy 'standard, which already includes a checked bag?
