Travel Insurance for RTW QF Oneworld itinerary

Perhaps you would care to provide a few examples of policies for a 76 year old which allows you to be out of the country for the whole year (noting this is different to an annual policy which has limits on individual trips), covers worldwide (so includes USA, Africa, Latin America not just the...

    What cheeses me off

WCMO when a venue changes recipe for what was an awesome dish to be for the worse. At pub trivia tonight and the bistro has always done an awesome beef & guineas pot pie with mashed potatoes. Order it tonight to find the pie filling riddled with disgusting celery which needs to be picked out...

Article: List of Qantas Carrier Charges

The upcoming increase in Qantas carrier charges on classic awards is very disappointing and also disproportionately affecting J and F redemptions. Impact could have been lower if they also applied some increase to W and Y. That said for context the charges on Emirates and QR are much much higher.

    QANTAS International Red Tail sale

Last DSC promo only covered period to October, so I'm unlikely to book anything during this sale, as aside from international trip already booked for April I cant squeeze anymore international in travel before December.

Travel Insurance for RTW QF Oneworld itinerary

Sure you can get a quote for a single trip for 365 days but I suspect would be prohibitively expensive; especially if destinations include USA, Latin America or Africa given they dont know how long you will be in those high cost places. Most annual TI policies place a limit on the maximum...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

In June i have a trip with 3 NBs, all on same PNR booked by me a WP. It will be interesting to see if we can board together. 2/3 of them are hopeless with technology if not same boarding group (I usually have their BPs on my phone) then I am going to have to insist the lounge print BPs for...

Article: What's Your Seat Recline Strategy?

No a conclusion you jumped to. I stated my preference and opinion just as others have. Noting that your article starts with the premise too many people are sitting for 10 hours+, not getting up for lunch, then sit more at home. Even the longest Australian domestic flights top out at ~5hrs...

Article: What's Your Seat Recline Strategy?

And yet absolutely no one works all day in an office in a seat reclined to the position of a reclined whY aircraft seat. Completely impractical to view an array of monitors and drive a mouse half laying down. You'd be craning your neck and wrist. One unique study doesn't a consensus make. A...

    Finnair’s Business Class AirLounge seat

Disagree given one of the alternative aircraft choices if flying on a QF flight number to Europe is an A380 with more accessible storage and more comfortable seat. The storage on the AY A333 (which i flew on HEL to JFK)with this non reclining seat was impractical . There is room for a tablet...

Article: What's Your Seat Recline Strategy?

What evidence? People sit upright for same duration as domestic flights in other situations everyday and aren't suffering major ill health effects. Most office workers participate in regular meetings or conference calls that exceed the duration of a SYD-MEL flight, it is not usual to recline...

    Finnair’s Business Class AirLounge seat

Im the opposite, in terms of hard product the QF J seat (especially on A380) has more accessible storage. The automated recline makes transitioning from seated to sleeping position super easy, the non retractable sleeping belt makes it easier to roll over and lumbar support is superior. AY do...

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

It would be good if at a card level DCC could be disabled so all transactions default to local currency at all times.

    Finnair’s Business Class AirLounge seat

Footwell size wasn't an issue for me. Moving from seated to lying position and returning to seated position from sleeping requires dexterity - no help so relies on your knees and back having no issues. I had a knee injury so it was crazy hard to crawl in out of the lying position. Also if a...

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

Yeah I was lucky in Fiji it was a larger purchase so required a PIN as over the tap and go limit. Sales girl seemed shocked that as an Aussie I didn't want to pay in AUD so I'm guessing she was overcharging Aussies regularly. Elsewhere ive always been prompted to choose the currency, unless...

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

Yes but in Fiji the cashier, clicked yes to accept the dcc before handing terminal to me, so I refused to enter PIN until it was reversed. Normally they tap and hand you terminal so you can see any prompt and choose the local currency.

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

Ive had this happen twice once in Fiji and once in NZ, both times Ive handed the terminal back requesting the transaction be cancelled/refunded and redone in local currency.

Qantas Cabin Baggage Survey Results Email

With one up one down, QF should really revise such that the personal item (i.e. laptop bag or handbag or camera bag) is the second item and the two together should not exceed 14kg. A regulation size carry on suitcase (or duffle or backpack or tote) and a smaller bag under your seat is enough to...

Article: What's Your Seat Recline Strategy?

If in whY on domestic (or trans tasman) I never recline, I wish the the recline function could be disabled on these flights under 5 hours. There is IMO simply no need to recline on domestic daytime flights. Similarly on domestic J on 737, I don't recline. On over night flights, I only recline...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

A shortage there may be but passengers can certainly pick and choose to fly on routes and flight numbers or other airlines with seat designs that better meet their needs to sleep comfortably. I feel it was a mistake for QF not to keep all its A380s.

Is the Australian Landing Card Still Necessary in the Written Form?

SYD especially early morning when a bunch of the US flights arrive, will typically have someone directing nothing to declare left and something to declare right. They also have roaming staff that direct you to far right for xray if you have been to certain countries in past x days. The single...
