Hobart to Vienna, Which credit card and which program is most suitable??

Emirates fly to Vienna. Citibank have a credit cars but others will have to let you know whether it is any good. A handful of airlines will get you to Vienna from Melbourne but emirates has tended to be the overall quickest door-to-door for me.

    Nuts to Qantas

I love wasabi (mmm grated fresh wasabi over soba noodles) and anything spicy EXCEPT wasabi peas which are an abomination

    The totally off-topic thread

Oh god tell me about it We got there early this evening and the OH thought we should take an earlier flight rather than sit drinking beer (well me anyway) in the QP for the hour. They apologised that we would be sitting further back than our original (row 9 in the 738). Now take all of this...

First status run kicking off soon. Qantas lady thought I was playing a joke on her

I will be on the same plane to Brisbane and back. "I'm in altitude training for my space mission." "It's a mystery shopper project" But I think I will just tell them I needed one flight to get to Platinum. They must understand?

A QF 747 in strange places

I'm not the target demographic but that does seem crazy. I had a fancy Abercrombie and Kent brochure here though, has anyone tried a private guide via them? I.e. not a group tour. I was thinking for a place like Burma or Namibia it might make sense. I don't know what the prices are like though.

Simple things that make a hotel great

Shangri la Singapore has a smallish pool area. But they prepare your deck chair and when you are done they take away your towels etc. means there arent dozens of chairs "reserved" all day via towels being left in place. they come around with fresh watermelon on a hot day too.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I know, unfortunately no current plans to get there- but who knows? Anyway almost as easy to get 1400scs as 1200 so there's alway the year after - or decade after

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! I thought it was hilarious that we are in the QP now and the OH finally says "I can't wait until you do your status run on the 20th, it is really crowded here and the J lounge would be so much nicer!" The penny has dropped! Now I need to plan a...

Issues with Oz Medicine and a Potential Medical Practitioner meet-up

Re: The totally off-topic thread I'm sure that's true but luckily not part of my life. The big quality private hospitals have spectacular plans over the next decade or two and for better or worse will be leaving the public system in their wake. Probably doing quite a bit of public work under...

Issues with Oz Medicine and a Potential Medical Practitioner meet-up

Neither am I, in fact I have spent much of this week doing on call operations in private past midnight. We have emergency departments, ICUs and many very elderly and very sick inpatients who require emergency care. It is understandable if people have preconceived notions about what we do in the...

Issues with Oz Medicine and a Potential Medical Practitioner meet-up

I don't want to get into a massive debate but my two cents: we do EVERY type of surgery in private with the SOLE exception of solid organ transplants. No cherry picking and no 3 year waiting lists. We do more and we do it cheaper; we have more fun, we are more productive and we love looking...

    Visa waiver delays

I don't mean to be rude but your post is extremely hard to read, some full stops would help! What passport do you have? Do you have criminal convictions? Do you require a visa or a visa waiver? Why do you require a visa or a visa waiver? Australian passport holders do not require any paperwork...

Could you fly the plane in an emergency?????????

After 30 years of MSFS I could easily land a plane in the Darling Harbour simulator but I doubt I could do anything useful in a real plane, except maybe allow everyone to use their mobile phones, encourage heavy smoking and order all alcohol stores to be quickly distributed. That said from my...

    Jetstarisation of CNS Routes

As someone who never pays for a domestic J seat I would also always choose Virgin over Jstar, especially having flown to the Gold coast one leg on each.

    International Upgrades - Improved Experience

Always window. You can squeeze past the next seat without climbing. Large locker, spacious feeling as window curves out. The biggest prob in the J cabin is noise from meal service and talking if you are trying to sleep thru meals. Window seat very protected from this. I used to prefer aisles...
