Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

The key phrase is a lesser known interpretive one before the definitions requiring close reading: “The use of the singular shall also include the use of the plural and vice versa.” Basically, this has the effect that ‘ticket’ can mean ‘tickets’.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Also worth noting that if you are not eligible for the lounge but have Dragonpass (available for free through Club Avolta) and are flying out on a Oneworld flight, you can buy into the ICN Oneworld lounge for $US28…

    Finnair’s Business Class AirLounge seat

Flew SIN-HEL a couple of weeks ago and got to try the seat. Managed to secure 9L which, as a bulkhead, had a fair bit of extra space in the footwell (for those without OWS and like me, reluctant to pay AY’s stupidly high seat selection fee which applies even after check-in, if your booking...

Melbourne International Business Lounge Dungeon Food

Was in the dungeon a couple of weeks ago. Plate of the day was toast, fried egg, spinach, mushrooms and sriracha mayo. It was fine and in isolation, decent. The problem was that, upon arrival to SIN, I went to the QR lounge which as a business lounge is arguably better than the SIN QF F lounge...

Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

The pro tip with Coles is to check the stock on the Liquorland site for the store adjacent to the supermarket from which you’re clicking and collecting. If not showing as in stock, there’s a very high chance it’ll be cancelled through Coles.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Battling the automated missing points rejection… I mean claims tool at the moment. Recently flew MEL-SIN-HEL and while my QFF number attached to my QF flight correctly, it didn’t for the SIN-HEL leg in J (or, more specifically, D) on AY. Only noticed it onboard, so thought ‘no worries, will...

AFF Review: Finnair A350-900 Premium Economy (HEL-BKK)

Having just flown AY in J from SIN-HEL, their J product is, lie-flat seat aside, a PE product with a pitiful amenity kit and fairly ordinary single tray meal service (the flight departs late but even so…). If their PE soft product is more akin to Y, then their Y soft product is skating close to...

Things Qantas Does & Doesn't Do Well

I’d like to see a proper CRM/ticketing system when you contact Qantas. i.e. ‘Your case reference is 123456.’ So that when you contact Qantas on more complex matters, you can give the ticket number and the person on the phone/dealing with the web form can pull up the history of the issue...

    Vietnam Airlines

If you can cope with a potentially long layover one or both ways and slightly coughpy lounges, yes it is. Nice, modern 787s and A350s, and decent food and drink. (VN was my introduction to business class...)

When my VC became Liquorland, it was just a case of changing the branding. The product lines stayed the same, so don't expect any clearance sales.

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Happy days - just got a call from Qantas indicating that the green tier option was now available, and so it was. 50SCs have now been applied to my account. :)

Book on QFF points & pay for partner

You can also ask Qantas for your bookings to be linked (as opposed to merged). Not sure what practical effect this has (although I did get some seat selection fees refunded for my dad when I linked his booking to mine), but it's better than not being linked.

    Qantas Wine latest offering

https://wine.qantas.com/p/curtis-family-vineyards-curtis-martins-vineyard-limited-series-shiraz-2020/CURMARSHZ20 1.53cpp with PCP, with 31,442 points for $480.60. Sadly can’t take advantage of this one as I’m off OS next week and it’d be cutting it too fine for delivery.

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

As John McClane said in Die Hard, ‘welcome to the party, pal!’ After offsetting an AY flight (booked through QF, like my previous AA flight, as a CR), I waited eight weeks and got the final green leaf within 3 business days after calling, but no extension to 2026 or option to get 50SCs...

Which year will the Status credits go to

Points and SCs accrue based on activity date (even if they post later), so flying on 26 April should mean you'll be okay.

    Southwest Airlines changes

It's a headscratcher for sure. Unless WN happens to fly the city pairs you're flying between and they're the cheapest option to do so, I don't know why you'd bother now as they're just like any other airline, but without premium cabins, lounges or a broad network of partners, while the slower...

    A330s out of life

Yup - short-haul narrowbody aircraft are typically designed for short hops (i.e. more flight cycles) and can therefore cope with more take-offs and landings than widebodies like the A330, so if QF has been using A330s for short domestic hops, it may have shortened their useful lives. (As an...
