Mmm... they are still out there. At least 25% of my SYD/MEL sectors are still on the old interior. We know all services on the BNE/SYD/MEL run will have the new interior by the middle of next month but I think that the rest of the fleet will take many months longer than that to get converted...

If you are flying in Y then take the VA codeshare. Much more pleasant seating and you'll maybe get some onboard recognition of your silver status - particularly on the return leg which will have VA ground staff (they'll stick you in an exit row as a silver, at the very least).

Book directly from the Etihad site. It is quite clear when looking at flights which ones code share on VA. If you'd consider a short flight from CDG to MXP you can do J return MXP to SYD for under $3700AUD, in which case I'd avoid the code share as Etihad's business is superior to VA's IMO...

A SYD-MEL return that would earn 2,000 points on QF earns me anywhere from 3,300 - 7,700 points depending on when and how I book it. The burn rates are very similar.

At the moment looks like I will tick over in mid February, and likely reach 1500+ by the end of my accrual period. I had been planning to divert some back into AA once I hit 800. Now reevaluating!

Currently seated in 3C on DJ885 which showed the "hybrid" seat map - 3-3 in premium, exit row at 13, forward left bulkhead. It is a full refit.

I have an EY J trip coming up and they have apparently nixed the amenity kits. So would be more than happy to take a business amenity kit (and set of PJs!) off you for use on the flights. Also have a couple of VA PE amenity kits banging around in my drawers if anyone wants them. Cheers!

That's the same seat map I am being shown for my two flights this week (DJ816 on Thursday and DJ885 on Friday) and since they show the exit row as rows 13 & 14 I am fairly certain these are aircraft equipped with the new interior. I'll report back on Thursday once i've flown the first leg...
