A rant about BA's Complicated Award Booking Processes!

Sorry I meant as in something's amiss with BA's system if it's not letting you book for someone else - if you were in a HHA, then the person you're booking for has to be on a list, if you're not in a HHA then you /should/ be able to book for anyone. I feel the pain re BA's systems, going back...

A rant about BA's Complicated Award Booking Processes!

Resurrecting an old thread, but something's up here, as BAEC do indeed let you book for others - in fact it's only if you're in a HHA that you can only book for people on your household list, outside of that you can book for anyone. Even HHAs have F&F and Travel Companion lists (makes it a bit...

Yeah, nah - I'd screen that out and take the 15 points, that's too intrusive.

    QR Avios boost

True, I remember they ran an offer very recently allowing 4x boost, but it's definitely not regularly (don't recall it ever happening before). Amex transfers I can't comment on, I've never transferred MR to QR, only direct to BA, but that's not from an Australian Amex obviously (I'm presuming...

    QR Avios boost

Doesn't sound worthwhile, what you paid for BA is about right at the current exchange rate (with £0.0092 or 0.92p/Avios being the fixed GBP price).

Agree, only good part is I've never been charged if it hasn't worked, so I pretty much know straight away whether QF will get it right or not.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Agree, even if they do, the OP just says they moved to the US, hence address change (that’s the gist of this thread anyway 😉) haha.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

but ColesWorth don’t report L3 data, so Amex et al don’t know exactly what you’ve bought. In fact same with QF, buying them from Marketplace counts as airfare. ColesWorth use HSBC for the supermarket multiplier.

Thanks, I got it to work in the end, but reminded me it’s a new month - so just done it again, no issues at all this time. 1740883637 I buy Woolies GCs, just for the multiplier and the fact I’ll use them for certain anyway, so don’t really lose as long as I pay the USD back quickly.

Haha yeah my first year two of my leaves were from $1 things on their own. And the Tassie $15 days after that 😢 ah well, it was nice while it lasted! 1740883158 Yes, $ when booking, points retrospectively (but doesn’t always actually work retrospectively, as above). 1740883195 This is my...

    AMEX rejection

Was pointed to this thread, reassuring to know (but poor nonetheless) that it's not just me (plus friends plus OH haha). All have keep trying, myself included, all continually rejected, until a couple of weeks ago I finally got an auto-approve for QF Ultimate. First AU Amex since Covid. Have...

Credit Card Offers Amex Explorer Offers & Discussion

Ah, thanks! I see one of the aforementioned friends has already found that thread haha. Such an untidy approach, no logic it seems, as they don't even seem to do searches (in my case anyway). Anyway that's a bit OT, I'll read that thread properly, thanks for replying though!

Nice, I'll keep a look out for the quiz re-appearing then! 1740834310 Hit and miss nonsense with this approach, works about 50% of the time, the other 50% the points never get taken and you never get the lead (ime anyway, YMMV). In these cases, I just wait for the need to book something like...

Credit Card Offers Amex Explorer Offers & Discussion

Not Explorer specific, but has anyone else had any issues with getting re-approved by Amex post Covid? Three friends, my OH & I have all been hit with declines at various points over the last couple of years. I finally got back on the Amex AU bandwagon a couple of weeks ago (QF Ultimate), but...

When the quiz first became a thing, I was able to re-do it in year two and got the 100 points (or however many) too. Last year and this year that category has rolled over (Reduce your impact), although I was able to do the Saveful thing when it came out last year and also get the points that...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Fair. The UK BAPP Amex isn't worth it here, you need to have BAEC and Amex set to UK addresses for the points to tx, and there's the forex charge which wipes it out. Amex US from MR is probably the best way, there's yet another transfer bonus on as we speak (was 30% to BA/IB a few months back...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yeah 40k is the usual SUB, I jumped when they offered 60k, which is as high as I've seen it, but there could be better offers out there. I haven't seen 60k since though.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

A PIN may or may not become available, it's for cash advances only and some Amex cards don't allow it. You'll never need to use it, which confuses a lot of retailers (it either authorises on tap only for any amount, or spits out a receipt to sign like it's 2005).

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

The address I explained I wasn't in the US enough days per year to make me a tax resident and the phone no. I said I retained it for when I was in the US and for receiving verification codes from online banking, something along those lines, although I can't find the completed version of the form...
