Overall, this is what Virgin Australia do. QF just don't care.

I use the calendar that pops up to input the date, thats why l was confused as to why the dates didn't work. Anyways, if l have issues in the future l'll make sure to check the date format.

Out of curiosity, why do countries have a 6 month passport validity rule, if you are going there for a holiday and hold a return ticket? Is it out of caution if a traveller is in a accident/severe injury/coma/unable to travel ?

Old mate could have just had a bad day. If l were in that (your) situation, l would have said something or at least got his name. If you were shy about saying something at the time, maybe after arriving you tell the CSM.

On a recent VA flight, I was talking to a FA and they said that any delays can cost the airline financially (through fines). So, maybe you claim is correct - get everyone on board and depart on time so as not to get a penalty/fine. If that means sacrificing PB to avoid a fine, then so be it...
