    A spare day in Madrid

Hello folks. We're heading off to Europe next week for 5 weeks. (BTW, QF was far and away the cheapest option at the time I booked; we're flying QF1 to Rome via LHR, and back QF2 ZUR-LHR-BKK-SYD). Can anyone give a suggestion as to what to do in Madrid for maybe half a day eg we fly out at...

    Outstanding Qantas Service

I've never had the privilege of flying first class on any overseas trip. In fact, I've never even flown J! Glad you enjoyed your trip!

New Crumpler luggage range - "Dry Red"

Be interested in hearing your review after using it. We have a European trip coming up in February and I most probably will need another bag of some description.

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Many years ago, while a TN employee, my favourite hotel was the Regent in Melbourne. One lunchtime, I ate right next to Pele. He wasn't at our table, but the next one. Unfortunately I can't speak Portugese! Another time, while in Chicago, I had a personal 5-10 minute audience with Dan Quayle...

    European QF club canundrum

Hello folks. I have booked a month long trip to Europe, departing Sydney late February 2012. My missus and my 20yo daughter will be accompanying me. We'll be flying QF 1/2 with a stopover in BKK on the way home, and BA a few times. One of the two aforementioned ladies will be OK to accompany me...

New Crumpler luggage range - "Dry Red"

I have purchased numerous Crumpler bags/satchels over the years. They are the bees-knees. Expensive yes, but bombproof. I can't recommend them enough.

    The problem with Qantas

This has most probably been visited many times, but is it topical at the moment. I returned last night from a 2-3 week journey overseas. I initially checked in with Qantas link at Coffs Harbour, as I am wont to do. Firstly, the staff member didn't give me a boarding pass. (He gave me...

    Qantas Fleet Grounded 29/10

Look on the bright side. At least you don't have to go to Brisbane.

    Qantas Fleet Grounded 29/10

I don't know if it's quite this serious yet. QF are still profitable. Ansett was an excellent airline but TN was even better. Unfortunately (speaking as an ex TN employee), QF swallowed TN, got rid of most of the TN staff and the rest, they say, is history. I got out at the right time...

    Qantas Fleet Grounded 29/10

As I am stuck in NZ atm, does anyone have some inside info as to when the Kangaroo will be flying again?? My flights back to Oz were tomorrow (31/10). There are plenty of flights from NZ at present, but I'm not sure whether to re-book or just hold out for a speedy resolution of the current...

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - general fun stuff!

I've often stated that PNG might be the world's premier tourism destination, if it wasn't for the endemic corruption and crime. It really is one of the most astonishing places on earth. Corruption, bribery, theft, murder, payback et al is a way of life up there. Sadly, I can't see it changing.

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - general fun stuff!

Great read, many thanks. I have travelled to PNG several times doing missionary work. Indeed, it is a country full of paradoxes. POM is the filthiest airport imaginable, and it is (always) chaotic, but that's the way it is. You have to take the good with the bad. I usually ride around...

Is anyone sick of flying? I am...

The answer to the original question is...yep. I am trying to drive to most places these days. It's amazing how much of the country you get to see when you aren't flying. Some parts of country NSW and Victoria I had forgotten about since flying everywhere. However, I would advise flying...

First Trip to US on Qantas A380

Go easy son, have you been in real bad turbulence? I can easily imagine how many flyers, even frequent ones, can become quite scared when things get rough. My eldest son is a QF Platinum flier. A few months ago, (returning from Parliament House in Canberra), the plane hit turbulence. Flight...

First Trip to US on Qantas A380

We returned from USA last month flying QF11,12 (A380 to/from LAX). I must disagree with the last poster as I thought Y class in the A380 more cramped than the 747. I may be wrong though. Maybe I've put on more weight in recent days... The A380 is really, really quiet and really, really smooth...

Wish me luck on QF to LAX

I have just returned home from 3 weeks in the US of A, flying both directions in an A380. To summarize the experience; fairly good with the exception of the completely disinterested QF staff. Meals were OK; entertainment is great; my views on the seats have already been posted earlier in this...
