I am 99% sure that what I had had refunded was the tax component. The change in the exchange rate from booking - refund caused me to get confused. Let it be known that this (getting confused) has been known to occur with far less complicated scenarios than this one :) ; just ask my wife.

I recently stayed at both Roxy and Novotel Clarke Quay. The rooms were nicer at the Novotel, the location is fantastic and the view was outstanding. We caught the Marina Bay Sands laser light show at night from our room! The Roxy was pleasant but it was out from the centre of town a bit.
