That’s interesting my JFK-AKL didn’t ticket within 15-30 despite being with Hobart. Will chase up tomorrow, at least it’s better if it’s a QF flight as opposed to a partner flight
very surprised at droid generosity today
WP requesting (not P1)
got through to hobart within 30 seconds
QF 4, JFK - AKL , U class x 1 (I9 available, only 2 seats selected on seat map for what that's worth)
May 10 2024, granted immediately by droid
Tried to get outbound QF3 also, but droid said...
January tickets on non-QF airlines would have either been embargoed (e.g. not released with some airlines) or alternatively all gone in the 330 - 355 day window. The frank reality is if you want an award ticket in a premium cabin (actually even economy) during Dec - Feb, you have to book 11...
It’s really hard to predict availability right now - CX have basically zero’ed out flight over the next 2-4 days to accommodate for the backlog. I’m not sure re: the threshold to re-route via another carrier vs next available CX flight. It’s all a bit ambiguous right now …. I’m in Seoul another...
so this just dropped into my inbox. there hasn't been any significant ex-NZ sales from QF for a while. I suspect loads aren't as great. relatively ok in terms of price for J ex-akl
lax/dfw/sfo is via Syd (extra status credits 80 each to Syd in Syd)
jfk is direct on QF 3/4
9 Oct - 4 Dec
J is...
they were never going to finish it by the launch of qf3. it was always going to be another 12-18 months for completion. some work has started in the first class cupboard, but that is all at the present
this was the abomination served on QF9 mel - per this week. earlier in the month I had the plant based option which was a pasta which was much more edible
the smoked salmon tasted off, the eggs were so hard boiled I expected them to knock someone out, the cucumber was noodle-fied which made it...
Specifically AY has cabin crew bases at Asian destinations - SIN/HKG/DEL
Crew are from an outsourced company called AAP aviation. They will wear AY uniform, fly AY planes, conduct AY service but will be from an outport base. NZ similarly did the same with its PVG route where they had a PVG base...
I would prefer if QF made achieving platinum more incentivising once you reach LTG. I'm about 4000 SC away and trying to decide what to do when I get there.
sure first lounges are great for TT hops which are a lot of my flying, but that's really about it. It remains difficult to request for...
Are you sure that you aren’t dealing with a married segment issue on BA?
That is, BA only will offer the award SYD-SIN-LHR, but not SYD-SIN or SIN-LHR
therefore, if you try to add a sector to SIN, it will come up as unavailable
QF 9 today MEL - PER
led by one of the best CSMs I've had Sam, and crew Simone on left aisle
menu attached
had rigatoni which actually tasted good. there is still the Neil Perry grass cuttings which I refuse to eat.
AKL - MEL QF154
lunch flight
good crew, good flight
choices
spinach and ricotta tortellini
chicken salad with tahini dressing
large bowl of carrot soup
salad was not the usual shrubs of grass and was a nice change with cucumber, tomato, feta and a slice of smoke salmon
carrot soup was...
That’s great …. Interestingly ex-Mel has the same issue as ex-AKL
Basically it’s air Sydney and the old QF25/26 problem LAX-AKL-MEL
I wonder if you could request QF3 ex- Mel/akl/Bne from the droid if the through is available. It’s actually available married with a few other ex-Syd flights, not...
the lead in A fare return though is $14000 NZD ish if I recall. OW for 8840 AUD is hardly cheap..
J trans-pacific if I recall fare rules right, used to allow a stopover in sydney. therefore you could strategically book akl-syd-lax//lax-osyd-akl
stopover on Sydney in the return and save a...
Even on day 1 when they did the points plane there was no independent QF3/4 AKL-JFK vv
I suspect that this will be like the old QF25/26 situation, where you could get MEL-AKL-LAX/LAX-AKL-MEL but not AKL-LAX/LAX-AKL.
It will be interesting to see if you could request this through Hobart using...
it's only hard if you use a QF search engine, it's easy if you use any TA or OTA. while there are some married segment restrictions it's been very easy far to get D fares. there are no published I fares beyond the three eastern ports I can find
it's not a married segment logic issue, it's actually a manipulative QF search engine issue to maximize profits I've concluded. I've mentioned this before in a previous akl - per discussion, where the trans-continental books into economy on no matter the business fare (J, C, D or I).
there are...
while QF won't control married segments, the other carrier may have their own married segments
Finnair/KLM/China Airlines is an interesting combination. potentially not married segments then? it's hard to test without plenty of availability around.
