Accor Restaurant Recommendations in Sydney CBD

Ternery at Sofitel Darling Harbour is highly thought of. I've looked inside the restaurant entrance and it looks too much life a cafeteria to my liking (bare wooden tables etc). Delta Rue sounds very promising and I've made a booking for February.

    Singapore A380 Business Class - 12DF or 96DF

I've made a few SQ Business Class redemptions and have an A380 back SIN-SYD on an overnight flight. I allocated myself to 12DF. I'm SQ Gold, but no PPS status so I couldn't grab 11DF. I rang up telling them about our 10th wedding anniversary (true) and she said she would request 96DF for us...

    Radisson VIP enrollment took forever

PS - Amex Platinum (Australia) gives you Radisson Premium, not VIP unfortunately. (Or am I missing something?)

    Radisson VIP enrollment took forever

Definitely call. I had a problem with one or two sign ups and the Amex help desk was able to resolve them. I remember the Australian subscription was the most problematic.

    Problems with FlyBuys autotransfer?

It worked for me again overnight (after a week or so of sitting there doing nothing).

I hate the coffee ordering kiosk in the VA Brisbane lounge

They've found a way to make ordering a coffee even more complex. Instead of asking a person for a cappuccino you line up for a kiosk, battle a user interface experience that is not well thought out. And less hygienic, and producing more paper. I guess that's progress. Then on my flight they...

    Accor "Welcome" Gifts for Elites?

The do have a lounge - sort of. It's a separated area from the restaurant with a long bench table and stools so for your canapes it's communal "dining". Some may like this, others may not. I'm staying there tomorrow night in a suite so will bring my own nice bottle of wine and enjoy it in the...

Adding *G number to SQ booking

As another data point. SQ has the same issue with revenue tickets (in J). I booked a revenue J fare and later wanted to change from SQ to VA FF number. It can't be done online or by phone or chat. They can only change it from another number to a SQ number. It can however be done at checkin.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I booked an A380 suites flight for my wife and I and we've been changed to a 777-300ER. It's a daytime flight (SYD-SIN) so it's not the end of the world. As a couple who will enjoy a meal together should we choose CD or AC / DF? Last time I chose CD but I've seen a lot of "influencers" who...

Travel insurance claim for flights to return home early after injury and surgery in hospital

Sounds like a good outcome. As an aside, you mentioned that travel insurance coverage ceases as soon as you arrive home. This is true. I usually travel overseas for 6 months at a time and during this time it is possible to put my private health insurance on hold (CBHS). Six months without...

Amex platinum insurance for middle of trip

I often travel to Asia and then some time later (hours, days or weeks) proceed to other destinations such as Europe. Multi-port trips are very common. After many years I had my first reason to claim on travel insurance and Amex were fabulous. Easy to deal with and prompt enough. My...

Transfering to Frequent Flyer / Velocity points

Unfortunately when you take all things into account the CBA Mastercard isn't a great earning scheme but it does have some other benefits. FYI - when you transfer points they appear at the other end almost instantly. CBA -> SQ is marginally better value than CBA -> QR.

    SQ Y+ vs Scootplus

I flew SQ Y+ a few years back (so things might have changed). There is more room than Y but the same meal. We got a PDB and the seating is 2-4-2 (or 2-3-2 I can't remember). The Kris entertainment system is well regarded.

    AMEX Platinum Overseas

This is my combination as well. Amex domestically, CBA Ultimate OS with a free Bankwest Mastercard as a backup. Having two travel insurance policies (CBA and Amex) also doesn't hurt as they each have different strengths and weaknesses depending upon the circumstances.

    A380 to B777 downgrade - fare difference

Thanks. I agree with your comparison between F and A. I've flown both and they actually suit my plans but if I waited a few weeks and booked them it would have been over $1000 cheaper. I'll give SQ a try and see what happens. My second option is still available (SYD-SIN on a later flight) and...

    A380 to B777 downgrade - fare difference

I booked some flights SYD-SIN-DAD // BKK-SIN-SYD in a mixed fare for me and the mrs. SYD-SIN was to be an A380 in suites but it's been downgraded to a B777 in first. I'm not too unhappy with the change from suites to seats given it's a daytime flight and it's probably easier for eating side by...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

I just recalculated my planned travel for next year. Under the current system I would earn 1800 SCs, enough for platinum and to gift platinum. Under the new scheme I would earn 1181 - enough to retain platinum but not to gift anything. I would just clear the 400 for the 50% my bum on a VA seat...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

As I said recently - airline frequent flyer program enhancements are very rarely good news for most consumers. I'm glad I just gifted Platinum to Mrs because I doubt I'll make PP. Time for a new spreadsheet.
