Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

It seems like QF93 is scheduled to leave MEL at exactly the same time as the QR flight (22.55)? 1644191636 It seems the LAX flight from MEL and SYD depart approx the same time? Unless I'm seeing something incorrectly?

Oh really? Damn didn't know that. Do you know what the current opening hours are?

Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

If you're flying QR J, but have BA Gold status (OW Emerald) - you are currently allowed to use the QF F Intl lounges at MEL and SYD is that correct?

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

That's fantastic to hear, thanks Serfty! For me it is just about costs. Remote RAT tests with video supervision are about half the price of in-clinic or airport tests, which is part of the reason for me wanting to do that. I'm sick and tired of the ridiculously overpriced tests in places like...

Just wondering if anyone had any more news/info on RATs for entry to Aus - can these be self-administered Video supervised RAT tests?

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

A lot, particularly in Africa. Thankfully travel is widely available to many people, however, the procurement of vaccines for each country depends on a variety of geopolitical factors, leaving millions without that option. One of the clearest examples of these is Africa. Many African countries...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I completely agree with Henrus here - many countries are still effectively closed or making it very difficult for tourists/visitors. I don't see how travel will recover anytime soon. As one who has hammered the Australian government on restrictions previously, I'm very happy with what they've...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

My advice for those travelling to Europe is to ignore these headlines and ensure that you look at each country's restrictions individually before you travel. First of all, the majority of these travel bans are political - and WHO has come out and said travel bans are useless. It is also...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Thanks for the info. For me I'm considering getting a room at Al Safwa lounge which is about AUD 200 for entry. While 21 hrs in an airport is a long time, it is definitely the not worst thing when I have decent food, internet and a bed for a few hours. Not ideal, but that's travel for the next...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I've heard a few people say TIMATIC - excuse my ignorance, but what is that? And does it cost anything for the general public to access it? It seems like it is something really useful these days.

Also, something I have picked up for everyone is the slight change of rules for PCR testing timeframe. It is now any of the 3 days prior to the day of your flight. From my understanding, this means you have longer than 72 hours for the pre-departure PCR, which adds some flexibility.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Thanks for this. Also FYI, for anyone flying Qatar, I have tried to call and ask, spoke to 3 people who couldn't give me a straight answer. It seems like staff working the phone are useless at knowing this info, at least in my experience. In any case, I have also checked the "Frequently Asked...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

The problem for me is that I'm based in the UK, which is on Qatar's red list at this stage. So this means I can't leave the airport in Doha, and I'm fairly certain there is no testing facilities air-side at DOH.

That says "The RAT must be done within 24 hours of the flight’s scheduled departure time" - but some people may take "the flight" to mean the "last direct flight to Australia". I just want to make sure that is not the case.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Hi All, just wondering if anyone has any experience flying from Europe to Australia with Qatar Airways? My trip begins in Rome, going to MEL, however, I have a long layover in Doha that is 21 hours. I just want to make sure that if I get a test done within 24 hrs of my departure time from...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

For RAT testing, the rules state this: "For a RAT, the test must be undertaken by or under the supervision of a medical practitioner (e.g., pharmacist, general practitioner, nurse, pathologist, pathology collector or trained personnel at airport-based testing stations)."...

    Australian state border restrictions

Yeh this is spot on. Sadly, nothing will happen. Even if there is a clear majority, the WA premier knows the next state election is still over 18 months away and anything he does now in terms of border closure will not matter then, unless of course WA is still closed in 2023/24.....which...

Thanks for the info MVIY! Regarding the extra form for VIC, I can't seem to find this anywhere? According to this website, there doesn't seem to be any VIC-specific forms? https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/information-overseas-travellers
