Hilton Diamond through Velocity Platinum status

Hi All I currently have Hilton Diamond status, but I will lose this by March 2023 as I have not stayed enough nights this year. If I'm able to obtain Velocity Platinum in the next few months (for the first time), I understand that Hilton Diamond is one of the benefits. Would I still be...

    Change Return Award to One-Way

Hi All, My mum has an award booking return flight (MEL-KUL-MEL) using QF points. She wants to cancel the return leg (KUL-MEL) - is this possible to do and get a refund of half the points back?

Virgin Australia Discover Gold (Status Match)

How can you be sure that you'll get Platinum? I'm BA Gold - and I'm fairly sure this is equivalent to Platinum (it is equivalent to QF Plat). When I got the approval email, it just says, earn 80 to retain gold and 'if you're status is equivalent to Platinum, earn 200 SC to get Platinum'. Is...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Hi All, I'm trying to get the 200 SC for the Platinum challenge. I have a flight booked from MEL-SYD one way in J - so that earns me 55 SC - if I'm not mistaken. I'm yet to book my return. Based in MEL, I assume the best option for me is to do MEL-OOL direct, which gets me 160 SC and is...

Qantas First Class - Sydney to Singapore (QF1)

Here is a photo of the steak cut into to show that bit of pink in the centre. I'm not a steak expert but I think I know a good steak when I know I see it. Hopefully you have a napkin close by to wipe the egg from your face.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I reckon it'll be gone by Easter at the latest. It seems like the decision has been made, and I think (and hope!) it's only weeks away! If we can also get rid of mandatory masks, that would be great!

Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

Does anyone know when the lounges will return to operating as per normal independent of QF flights? My assumption is 27th March?

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

It makes a huge difference. You mention cost when it's got nothing to do with that. It's the risk. It's not only tourists coming to Australia, but also Aussies travelling literally anywhere worried they'll be stranded. What happens if you're in Europe, test positive and need to spend 10+ days...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I think the airline industry really needs to pressure the Australian government into removing the pre-departure test. I can see why this detail may not be looked at just before an election, or straight after - however, that means potentially over six months of a rule that continues to cripple...

Qantas Lounges will begin reopening from 1 November 2021

It was 8.30 pm till 10.30 pm (Sunday). There was one QF flight at 11, an EK flight at 10.30 and QR flight at 11. 1646719344 According to one of the QF staff at reception, the J lounge is re-opening at the end of March. Spa is 1 - 2 months away.

Was in the QF F lounge at MEL yesterday. It was absolutely packed and never saw anything like it before.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

My understanding is that the UK is part of Europe, however, they are not part of the European Union (EU) - and these are effectively two different things. The EU is only 27 countries. There are some European countries that are actually not part of the EU, for example Switzerland, who are not...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Finally made it back home! I have to say the process was fairly easy at MEL. Apart from the masks, it didn't feel like anything different. It does feel great to see sunshine that actually lasts for a few hours - probably more sunshine than I have seen in 2 years in London haha.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Even being based in the UK it is very hard to keep up. The real issue is when the media and supposedly 'reliable' travel sources in the media and social media publish big headlines saying the EU is making travel easier or they've agreed on something etc. You often find the EU has agreed on...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Nope - some countries want 180 days, some 270 days, some 5 months, some 7 months. Travel will continue to really struggle when even the EU can't get their member states to follow a standardised policy.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

That's not possible because the EU countries don't even follow the EU. I think fully jabbed need to be allowed to travel freely with no testing. Until testing and quarantine are still lingering, travel will never come back to anywhere near what it was.
