    New Qantas Loyalty CEO announced

Yes, just like the last CEO thought that the 'simpler and fairer' program changes were also going to be well received with all the 'enhancements' they made to the program...

    Grange in the F lounge

Not really. You can pick up a bottle of grange for about the same price as a (non-sale) SYD>MEL J fare which would only net you 40 SCs or ~1% of P1. I'd much rather have a whole bottle of grange than a dom QF J flight with a crowded lounge, sub-standard food and wine offering and a potential...

    Grange in the F lounge

I've had a mixed experience. P1 no. F passenger, yes. No grange though...

    Grange in the F lounge

Wow!! Looks like it was being served in the F / P1 / CL section of the lounge? Any idea how many bottles?

    P1 2023/24 Gifts

I had no notifications from Auspost, but like others it was delivered yesterday and I collected it when I got home last night. Regarding Vanessa's letter, when can something really be called a 'tradition' as she alludes the gin is becoming? I would have thought we would have needed two years...

    P1 2023/24 Gifts

Bugger. I'd prefer the Negroni (or the bubbles of the past) over the gin (yes, I'm aware that gin is a critical ingredient in Negroni's) but I have plenty of gin already at home.

I really hope we get that here in Aus as I do love a Negroni!

    Platinum Newsletter

I reckon that's better than the P1 comp from the most recent newsletter which is return trip to Seoul and 5 nights

    Qantas Lounge Pet Peeves

Yes, but it's not consistently applied from my own experience and I wouldn't say that the offering is better even if you get into that area. In my scenario of a lounge within a lounge there should be more premium offerings of food and booze etc. (and don't mention that rubbish menu that they...

    Qantas Lounge Pet Peeves

Perfect solution IMO would be a three lounge strategy: 1. True F-lounge for F/CL/P1 2. J Lounge (akin to today's F-lounge) for paid J/WP 3. QF lounge (akin to today's J-lounge) for upgraded J, SG, QP and lounge invites The above is really quite similar to the domestic set up with CL/J/QP...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Yes, it's different to any I have seen on aircraft recently. It's similar to an edition that they circulated at some point during COVID when they were sending the magazines to P1's. It has some features on certain destinations and restaurants as well as the usual ads for watches / jewellery /...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Not sure if P1 specific or not, however 'As a valued frequent flyer' I have just received a 'special collectors edition' Qantas magazine (which tbh looks the same as the other QF magazines) from Ms Wirth as she 'knows how often I travel' (so obviously need another QF magazine to read) to...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Interesting. I have not, specifically ex-SIN (as of mid Nov) and pre-covid ex-HKG. I had thought that given the minimal options and the fact that the flight time is often sub 7 hours that no breakfast card made sense. Coming from Japan makes sense to have one given the longer flight time.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

They don't typically give breakfast cards on the overnight flights from Asia. Normally just a trolley with the options like the B&E roll.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

HA! Unfortunately not worth crediting to another program on the OW alliance as I don't have status anywhere else. I might do what Flyfreqently has suggested and still try and claim. Overall the trip itself was great (even if my writing didn't necessarily convey that), just when comparing to...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

As some here may remember, I was the lucky winner of the P1 competition to London. Having recently returned from the week away and thought I would provide some details around it. I'm not going to do a full TR, however thought that some may be interested. This post is to focus more on the...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yes, I'm sure all those carriers 'can' do fine - but they don't always. Have had some pretty leathery steaks on EK (haven't had steak on SQ or MH and haven't flown BA). I've also had a couple of good steaks on QF over the years. Bit aggressive and harsh to call them numkies given they are just...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yes, I'm not saying it's not possible but on balance have had more bad steaks than good over the years. I guess my point about the meats is that they are also good in things like curries too so the versatility increases when using those types of meats which would allow a caterer / airline in...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

To be fair, a lot of carriers can't get steak right, not just QF. Airlines would be best to stick to meats that are better at long / slow cooking times as these meats also are typically better at being reheated (e.g. lamb shank / shoulder, pork shoulder / belly, beef cheek / brisket, chicken...
