    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Airfare for the ED wish gift cards, so $100 is 400 QF + 198 MR at the current offer.

Didn't expect this to be my breaking point, but it finally came!

I agree with this entirely. I (and a lot of people) had a particular credit card company (UK based, I'll bitterly dispute issues all over the world) which closed my and a lot of other peoples' accounts (as they have every right to do, which I made clear I had no issue with), but then not only...

Fiji Airways becomes full oneworld member and adopts AAdvantage program

You'd be thinking of NF I think, with their one 737 and a few props for inter-island travel. That said, prior to collapse, they did use QFF.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

I believe so, yes - I did occasionally have some HKD in there, because I didn't know better, but now I just fund it with AUD and crack on. Agree the exclusions are a bit strange, bit of an eclectic list, but nothing I couldn't live with.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Looks like the better option (unless you want to lock in the exchange rate) is to leave it all as AUD anyway. Current Premier AUD-HKD = 1:5.089 Googled AUD-HKD = 1:5.19 But that’s for swapping between currencies held in the account, not for visa transactions. 1718267201 Exactly right. From...

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

I don't believe so - https://www.hsbc.com.au/content/dam/hsbc/au/docs/ways-to-bank/personal-banking-booklet.pdf Part 21 of this book is I think what covers it.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

The Global Everyday account generally doesn't, but if you're not holding enough of the currency you're using, it defaults to AUD, and converts what you spend to USD then AUD. Unlikely to be enough of a difference to care about unless you're spending thousands at once.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Good call, and there is a HSBC ATM in the arrival hall (after immigration/near customs, after all the baggage carousels), so make a bee line for that. I've used that with all sorts of cards and not been charged actually, it's about the only ATM I use in HK!

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I'll give it a go, usually buy normal woolies cards at 4% off, so Wish at (essentially) the same (I'd value the points at a bit more is a win, doubly so if it codes as airline. Gold is coding as Travel - Airline (so 3x MR, and would be the same on green, 7x HH on Aspire), let's see.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I got my first fraud flag on a new Amex yesterday, ~$100 bill payment via PayPal. Called them up and they verfied me by one of my other Amex cards, unblocked no problem. But now I can't add it back to PayPal, I get a message saying the (Amex) app can't verify me...it still works with Amazon, but...

    All About Foreign Credit Cards

Is your Wise address linked to/showing your Aussie address then? I assume so? My Wise account was originally a Transferwise account opened in the UK, it's still linked to a UK address...haven't had any issue to date, but wonder what the go would be there. HSBC Premier is an option - I opened my...

    QR Avios boost

Weirdly I found it on the website - but as soon as I logged in the option disappeared (showing only buy, gift, etc.). Guess I'm not eligible. However I can and have boosted via my (linked) BAEC account, so I'm stumped.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

I echo this, almost all bank ATMs charge no fees for either their own or other customers. The only chargeable ones are those operated by independents like Moneybox or whatnot, usually in pubs, casinos, convenience stores, etc., but they will give you a warning prior of course. The UK is one...

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Must admit I've never used my Transferwise/Wise account for ATM withdrawals, but I have transferred large sums of money overseas using their service with zero issues (I would have had no issues with a KYC, as it was due to a house sale, but they never asked). In the early days TfWise could be...

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Agree with this entirely. Loss of the ATM fee rebate from ING was a blow for the few times I used ATMs, but mostly POS transactions are possible now, so all you need is no forex on purchases. I'd highly recommend using a credit card over a debit card (if you're skimmed, etc., then it's not your...

I never saw anything for $200, it was always $150, even when clicking your link, but sure enough the credit appeared on my first bill. So elec has gone well so far, 20k VA and $150 credit has made it worthwhile even if they do screw up the gas like Origin did.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

True, although they apply the rules how it suits it seems, the co-brand Amex cards that existed before the cap on swipe fees clearly ceased being worthwhile to the banks/Amex, but god forbid something that has almost (if not always) never benefited the customers be enacted. Shame, but it is what...
