My Plus 1 has just made WP. What fringe benefits to follow????????????

RE: JQ35 - In my experience it runs every Saturday. They just don't start selling tickets on it from Syd to Mel until close to the date of departure (normally 2 - 3 weeks depending on loads).

Travel insurance - amex Plat Charge Card supplementary cardholder

And they won't cover your unborn child if your partner is pregnant and has the child prematurely overseas. I was told this was because the unborn child's fare was not put on the card. Not sure how you would buy a ticket for a fetus. That resulted in me cancelling the card.

    QF/EK FF benefits revealed

A few lounge access observations: - Q-Club members are a bit screwed over. What happens to a Q Club member flying to London from Perth? Is there any access to the Q-Club in perth given that the Emirates lounges are not available. Ditto for NZ. - Q-Club members are stuck with the Admirals...

The Qantas Timetable - From 1959

There are some great photos of the old planes (including the sleeping births) up at the Rose Bay RSL. I'll take a photo of them when I am next there.

GBP to $Au who gives the best rate

Oh dear I feel for you and all my friends that have returned from the UK recently (just to rub it in I got 2.8 to 1 in October 2008 ... heh). Wouldn't the best way to deal with it be to send it to the UK and invest it there? You'll have far more options there. Otherwise, I would speak to a...

Change in Platinum Card Travel Insurance?

Good luck with that. I tried that and they just recited policy wording back to me. My pregnant wife and I are travelling in March. It's quite clear that she is covered by the policy, but what is not clear is whether the unborn child is covered. I specifically asked this question using this...

    Qantas Cricket Safety video

Are you serious? In Australian English, "your" and "you're" are spoken exactly the same. As I said the Captain is a Captain, not an actor.

    Qantas Cricket Safety video

I have met the captain on the video a few times through a friend of a friend. He's a real captain and a genuinely nice guy.

Cost justification to renew my Amex Charge Platinum

I also let them know that if they'd upped the fee and kept the same benefits I would have stayed. Why they didn't do that is beyond me.

Cost justification to renew my Amex Charge Platinum

Same here. 10 years as a platinum card member, two as a centurion (dropped back as I couldn't see the additional value), about $100K per year spend, and nothing, nada, not even an offer of a $100 discount. Good luck to them I say. I told her it was mostly the travel insurace issue for me...

Loss of Qantas Platinum 1 member points due to members accidental death....

When my wife's father was died, my mother in law called qantas and they said to use family transfer to transfer out the points. He had about 400000 at the time, so she has been transferring 100,000 a year since. I would probably call Qantas and say they didn't have the relevant authorisation...

Domestic leg, international flight, change of name

I am booked on a domestic leg of an international flight (QF 19) in a couple of months. Since booking, my wife has changed all her ID to my surname (we were only married in January) and so has no Govt ID in the name on the flight. This would not normally be an issue for domestic as ID is not...

NZ Fares to the US 60% Difference than Oz

You can also do this Mel-Akl-Mel-Stopover (say, one month)-Mel-Lax-Mel-Stopover-AKL That way you get a weekend in Auckland as well as the trip to LAX. I used to do this all the time when I lived in the UK to "time-shift" my bookings into a cheaper period. e.g. In October - make my own way to...

    Bassinet seat stories...

A couple of years back I was sitting in a bassinet position with my girlfriend. Like this: ABC DEFG HIJ My wife and I were in D and E and there was mother with a baby in G. The crew moved another mother to F and put the baby in front of us! (i.e. in front of D E). I indicated my displeasure...

What's the status of status credits on the Qantas-Emirates deal??

That's definitely not the case. Air Pacific earns SCs for QF, and is not in OW.

Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

It's established though that since EK has a lower cost base, it can make money on these routes. QF cannot. QF is happy to hand over a route that it will always lose money on.

Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

Thw way I read it you don't need approval, but you do need your prescription (which you may not have if bought over the counter), and that prescription needs to be notarised.

Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

The majority of the drugs are prescription only anyway (with some notable exceptions e.g. Codeine - but then many countries won't let you buy that over the counter - e.g. the US) . But wow having to get prescriptions notarised what a pain that is!
