Theres a new spirit - Qantas

Willy Brandt would be an excellent move with AB opening up a number of opportunities. My main concern though would be that in winter, if TXL is anything to go by, flight ops are rather more susceptible to inclement weather in that part of Germany. While I love Frankfurt as a destination, I'm...

Theres a new spirit - Qantas

QF to come out and back a carbon price and same sex marriage off the back of rallies in Canberra today. Way to go AJ, leading from the front.

    Lounges in BKK

Spent a bit of time in the Louis Tavern lounge as well as the QF J Lounge at BKK- I think it's a woeful airport compared to any terminal at SIN or HKG generally. Not helped by the fact that the last time I was there, it was with a twelve hour layover following a typically horrific LY flight...

    A380 in Y - best seats (80A/80K/71D/50C etc.)

Have 80A outbound on QF93 in Nov, and 80K on QF10 in the week before Christmas (ex-SIN connecting to QF6 on one of the old battleaxes like VH-OJD, which I've had a few times now) as bookends to a LONE4. Very much looking forward to it. While I have an overwhelming preference for window seats...

    Domestic carry on baggage

FA/CSM's discretion. I had a very lightly packed garment bag recently that was borderline on dimensions- I'd never once had to separate baggage at the door save for when trailing with my boss once or twice- and the FAs told me I'd need to check it solely on the basis that the CSM might, just...

Long time listener, first time caller

Ta. Supp- also have my first LONE4 planned for Nov/Dec. Even if work trips have gotten me hooked on J, it's a killer itinerary, and I can't wait to add some points and SCs from outside my usual MEL/CBR/SYD triangle.

Long time listener, first time caller

Hey all Lurking has finally been upgraded into competing for oxygen with some genuine founts of FF knowledge. Aims this year- convert a five month period from QF SG rollover->QF WP (first time)->looming PG into WP1 by the end of Feb, and mimic punter to Gold effort on EK between April and...

    Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore

It's those sorts of killer views that make it a perfect transit hotel- but if I've got more time I'd always aim for the Conrad, or Swissotel the Stamford. The most comfortable airport hotel I've ever stayed at, with the most spacious rooms. Silly lifts and poor food options, but hey....can't...

    The New Emirates Business Class

Entirely up to the airline. I fly EK regularly but their 77W services to the east coast aren't a patch on SQ's. It's almost worth flying going out of my way to fly on an A388 flight out of SYD or the 772LR flights from PER. It's also luck of the draw on shorter flights out of some nearer ports...

Anyone else having problems with seat selection?

Have had this happen half a dozen or so times on this route and it's always on account of low yields (particularly in J where the difference in available seats is stark) and/or reduced crew requirements- in every case a change down to a 734 or 73H: not a sideways 763 move.

Anyone else having problems with seat selection?

Indeed, very narrowly talking about those that ply MEL-CBR-MEL here.

Qantas: Making a complaint and being heard

There's often speculation, of course, from aggrieved pax/complainants that if they were to be assertive with QF that their bags on SYD-MEL flights might coincidentally wind up somewhere like PPG...

Anyone else having problems with seat selection?

Exit row on the 763s is at row 34/5. The major downside is that on these morning services you're relatively unlikely (maybe a third of the time) to have a seat free next to you. Y starts at 23. Even on a quiet Monday morning, CL or- for lack of a better term- senior WPs lock anywhere from the...

how come i can't pre-select row 4 on a lightly loaded plane? QFF gold

Agree, but WP status alone is not a panacea wrt this particular issue. Guaranteed seats in Y for CL members (which ordinarily works out to first/second/third row depending on how many are travelling, and type of a/c) are a variable on certain routes in and out of CBR in particular, at peak...

Anyone else having problems with seat selection?

Given the regularity with which the flight to which Rebekkap refers to is subjected to (very) last minute equipment change where yield issues require, best solution is an exit row. 763- 11 exit row seats. 734 or 73H- 12 exit row seats. Bob, as they say, is your mother's brother. Avoiding a...

Anyone else having problems with seat selection?

No, just you- working fine on a secure IE, iPad safari and Chrome. Odd that the 763 change was to a 734- when they do that for QF804 it's usually to a 738.
