Annual NZ Dinner: WLG 7 March 2026

Interested but far too early to know if I'll be in town.

Overview of lifetime airline status tiers & requirements

I have Qantas lifetime platinum, Asiana platinum, Korean morning calm premium club. My *A backup for when Asiana exits is many banked years Air NZ elite (not yet enough to consider it lifetime status but 16 is a good start). I was also well on the way to Singapore lifetime PPS (about 12 months...

Reason for carry-on being diverted for manual check at security (and then released without check)

WLG domestic and AKL international security are especially bad at sending nearly every bag for a 2nd check. Supposedly to speed up the main line but it doesn't work because the backlog for 2nd check is too big to allow any more bags through the 1st check.

Korean Air SKYPASS doesn't offer SkyTeam Elite Plus tier except with lifetime status?

Yup. Great for uncrowded F lounge which I have access to when flying KE.

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

VIP got involved overnight and rebooked me for free. Common sense prevailed in the end.

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

Qf won't allow routing changes unless flights are cancelled. I have upcoming flights via bne and thought I'd be helpful and reroute since I don't need to go via bne, there are seats available on alternative routes, and it would free up 2 seats (1 to bne and 1 from bne) for people that need them...

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

I wouldn't focus too much on forecast path ar that level of resolution, as there remains a lot of uncertainty. The entire shaded area on bom map is where the centre may pass. We've seen in the past 24 hours Alfred isn't exactly coming straight in - lots of wobbles.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Yet to get one. But received 2 emails that confirms my booking for flights the next 2 days are in order. 🙄

Annual NZ Dinner: AKL 8 March 2025

On Saturday morning I'll be doing parkrun and a run followed by brunch somewhere (likely miss the included breakfast at hotel). Fortunately my flights to and from bne are on the way back from akl, not on the way to akl.

Annual NZ Dinner: AKL 8 March 2025

NZTD is required for everyone including NZers. It's the arrival form rather than visa.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

As usual no P1 email received.

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

That's harsh. I'm sure there will be a sign put up "new lounge coming soon" which surely counts as starting the work.
