Qantas staff skipping the line at the New UberX Rank at Sydney International

I’ve noticed the airport Maccas workers tend to jump in front of even the crew at security 🙄. The general public clearly doesn’t have much of an idea as to the critical role the crew play.

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

I’m still not seeing justification there for the government to purchase and run an airline. It’s a minuscule number of routes that could easily be picked up by decent operators. If they elect not to, the government can subsidize and put it to tender.

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

To an extent they are… hence the government subsidizes routes. Aside from Parkes and Moruya, what routes does Rex operate under its own steam? All government subsidized routes can be handed to other players. Airlines that, you know, haven’t gone bust. Link, QantasLink, hinterland, Skytrans...

Qantas staff skipping the line at the New UberX Rank at Sydney International

Why not? Apply, interview and accept. Then you can use the staff queue.

Qantas staff skipping the line at the New UberX Rank at Sydney International

Use DiDi. They still use the old pickup area and it seems to work better. QF crew (contract dependent) are entitled to transport home after a long haul sector. This would generally be a prebooked HC. Knowing Qantas, I can assume they’ve flicked this entitlement to Uber and the crew quite...

$16K Fraud on HSBC credit card

Almost pains me to share good experiences… I’m remortgaging with a different Chinese bank and they’ve been difficult, to say the least. The latest strange request was “your HSBC account number on your credit file doesn’t match your HSBC card number. Explain”. I figured that would be a drama…...

Article: How I Save Money by Flying Business Class from Cairo

My theory is that I’ll sleep from take off to landing. And if it crashes, I’ll be asleep and hopefully won’t notice.

Article: How I Save Money by Flying Business Class from Cairo

I’ve booked a CAI-JNB-CPT to join two Singapore awards (SYD-CDG and then CPT-SYD). Less than $1000 in business class (the JNB-CPT alone is often about $4-500). Only issue is flying Egypt Air… but it’s overnight anyway. There are some good deals to be had.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

UL is showing a lot of availability at the moment which leads me to think it might be phantom. The domestic connection causing dramas seems to be a QF-QF issue.

    Article: Priority Pass Lounge Guide

Just generally made me feel like a bit of thief or scammer tbh. Got a lecture stating “you can only use it once, only order once, no extra orders”. Generally unfriendly, but still got the job done. You’ll get maybe one drink and a burger or something for $36

Virgin Australia has Just Dropped a sale! Business class SYD-MEL for $309!

I flew SYD-ADL recently on QF and the hot J meal was some warmed sausage roll bites. Not indifferent to the “Patties” once’s I’d reheated in the oven the evening before after a few too many drinks with friends. Both airlines offer a pretty ordinary business service. That’s consistent...

    Article: Priority Pass Lounge Guide

Depends on your gate. And how much you drink. Peroni bar have always been pretty unpleasant about PP (always get a lecture about using it). Mach 2 is fine. Food is ok. If you are planning to spend a bit of time and will have more than 2 drinks, then go to The House. If you have an unlimited...

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

I did not. I don’t believe one is offered. I carry the T&Cs and a copy of the statement in which I met the spend requirement for insurance.

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

TBH it’s not a terrible card. The 60K spend is annoying but workable (would be better without the reduced earn after 2.5k per month). I’ve definitely gotten $500 value out of my star gold. Long haul sectors are always in J but I’ll happily fly Y on anything less than 2H so the lounge/baggage is...

Virgin Australia Crew Incident in Fiji

Good point. But I suspect that came about because of the Laos incident.

Virgin Australia Crew Incident in Fiji

I can’t say I regularly see reports as the second or third televised article on the national broadcaster for days on end, but maybe I’m watching a different ABC 🤷🏾‍♀️

Virgin Australia Crew Incident in Fiji

It’s simply an observation. I would pretty safety say that the media does not report on every assault on an Australian overseas, and definitely not at this level. Certainly entitled to that opinion, however I would disagree and say that the media certainly does excessively focus on issues...

Virgin Australia Crew Incident in Fiji

Certainly interesting to see the romantic obsession the public (and therefore the media) have with airlines/aircraft. We still don’t have full details, but I’d hazard a guess that if any general member of the traveling public was robbed/assaulted in a foreign country, it wouldn’t rate a column...

I Have Five Days In Egypt - What Do I Do?

I’m heading over later in the year. Doing a few days in Cairo (see the pyramids, Egyptian museum) then a 3 night Nile cruise which covers some of the tourist spots. I’ve been to Cairo before and can’t say I’ve got anything partially nice to say about it… but you’ve got to see the pyramid...

Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

Joburg has always been the QF “take what we’re giving you or get f’d” route. They have a monopoly, they charge a premium and they know people just have to suck it up. Flash back to the 747 days and there were countless delays of 24 hours or more. They couldn’t care less if passengers are...
