New as of August 5 2017: The Qantas Ultimate Amex is once again up to 100k points for referrals (I've only seen it higher than this once, at 110k last year!). If you're going to apply for this card, please consider using a referral link from this thread to grant a bonus to a fellow AFF'er as well.

One-off bonuses:

  • 100,000 bonus points if you spend $1,500 in the first 3 months
  • 0% on balance transfers for the first 12 months - with a 1% establishment fee

And then, in your first year, and every year, you get

  • A complimentary return flight on Qantas (becoming a $450 travel credit from October 31st). Until Oct 31st the return flight is available after your first QF Air Australia spend (PM me for an easy & cheap way to do this). Once it's become a credit, the Amex T&Cs suggest "The Travel Credit will be available each year of Card Membership, as long as you have paid the annual fee and your account is current and in good standing" - i.e. no pre-spending required.
  • Two Entries to the Amex Lounge at SYD Intl Airport
  • 1.5 Points per $1 on most spend, plus a bonus point on QF spend (plus, the points earn is uncapped)
  • Decent travel and purchase insurance.
  • To use Apple pay, Samsung Pay and Android Pay
  • Up to 44 interest free days on purchases

This product has an annual fee of $450, which can be easily justified by the value of the included flight (which in my experience does earn Qantas points and status credits). There is talk of this credit being swapped to a $450 travel voucher - now confirmed, check point 2 on the T&Cs page of the referral - but either way, it offsets the annual fee. Being a PER resident, a $450 credit would work out better for me as PER<>SYD/MEL is often under $400. Similarly a return dom flight between east coast cities may cost less than $400!

The minimum credit limit for this product is $3,000 and it has a $65,000 minimum household income requirement. Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer. Bank-issued (Australia New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank, Westpac Banking Corporation) cardholders are eligible for this offer.

If you're keen to jump on board, by clicking this referral link you'll receive all of the above and as a cardholder myself I'd gain 30k points towards the next holiday for Mrs Excel & I. Thank you for your consideration!

NB: As always these offers are subject to change and this advice is general in nature, you should consider if the product is right for you and/or seek independent financial advice as appropriate :)

Hi everyone,
As per the other post in this thread, here's my Amex referral link with the details as below: http://amex.com.au/refer/paulsqn8o
Main points:
- You get a 100,000 Qantas points sign-up bonus after you spend $1500
- 1.5 points per dollar spent into the future.
- X2 access to the Amex lounge at Sydney International Terminal every months
- One free return domestic Qantas flight (soon to be replaced with $450 travel credit)
- The usual Amex insurances
- $450 annual fee

Be sure you check out the fine print about dates the promotion finishes in the link provided.

In return, I get a 30,000 Qantas point referral bonus which I promise to turn into interesting flight reports. :)

It's a great card and the one I use every day.

The link again: http://amex.com.au/refer/paulsqn8o

Re: Qantas Ultimate Amex: 100k Points, Flight/Credit, 0% BT (New 5/8/17 - Exp 28/9/17

Here is my referral link for the current Qantas American Express Ultimate Card referral campaign:

http://amex.com.au/refer/alexah4trp

If you apply using this link by 28 September 2017, you can get 100,000 Qantas frequent flyer points and I will get 30,000. Full disclosure - the 100,000 points is the same as you would get without applying though a referral. However, you are benefitting other forum members by using these referrals, and chances are others will return the favour by using your referrals in the future (has certainly worked that way for me :)).

With the major banks having either discontinued or devalued the earn rates on their companion Amex cards, the 1.5 points per dollar on non-government spend that the Qantas Amex offers is among the most generous of any credit card in the Australian market. The other inclusions make this a generous offer, with the sign-up bonus and free flight (soon to become a $450 travel credit - see below) easily making it worth the annual fee.

All the details and 'terms & conditions' of the offer are available by clicking the referral link, but the key points are summarised below.

-Earn 100,000 Qantas Points when you apply by 28 September 2017, are approved and spend $1,500 in the first 3 months. Note that the terms and conditions state ‘Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer’, though holders of Bank-issued American Express cards are eligible

-Complimentary Qantas domestic return Economy flight each year after your first Card spend on selected Qantas products and services. On 31 October 2017, the complimentary domestic flight will be replaced with a $450 Travel Credit. The Travel Credit can be redeemed for any eligible Qantas flight booked and pain online through American Express travel in a single booking

-1.5 Qantas points per dollar spent (except on government spend)

Other features of the card:

-Two complimentary entries per year to the American Express Lounge at Sydney International Airport
-0% p.a. on balance transfers for the first 12 months — A one-off credit plan establishment fee of 1% applies to any balances transferred.
-Complimentary domestic and overseas travel insurance
-An annual fee of $450
-An interest-free period of up to 44 days
-20.74% p.a. interest rate on purchases
-Minimum credit limit of $3,000
-Minimum personal or household gross (pre-tax) annual income requirement of $65,000

Have an American Express credit card with CBA, NAB or Westpac? Chances are you'll have started earning fewer points per dollar spent from July under a barrage of changes announced by the banks (or no more points at all if you're with ANZ!) - so why not keep your points flowing in with a new Qantas American Express Ultimate Card?

This card offers a solid 1.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent on most purchases and 2.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent direct with Qantas, such as when paying for flights or Qantas Club membership.

Unlike some other AMEX cards, this one also delivers 1.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent with insurers and utilities (like telcos, electric companies, internet service providers and streaming services), with 1 Qantas Points earned per $2 spent on government payments such as to the ATO.

Best of all, all points are uncapped!

Now to the best part - the sign-on bonus! Apply via this link and you'll earn 100,000 bonus Qantas Points after spending at least $1,500 on the card within the first 3 months.

The card comes with a $450 annual fee but also includes a free domestic return flight with Qantas every year (moving to a $450 travel credit from October 31), two free yearly visits to the AMEX Lounge at Sydney airport, domestic and international travel insurance: so if you like to travel and often find yourself away from home (and would have paid $450 towards travel at some point during the year), chances are you'll get far more value back from the card than you'll pay in annual fees. :)

A minimum income requirement of $65,000/year applies, but this is household income, not personal income - so if you live with a partner/wife/husband, you can enter your total combined income during the application process for consideration, and as long as you earn $65,000/year between you (even if that's $32,500 each), you'll meet the minimum easily.

So, what are you waiting for?

You can apply here today!

I hope you've found my summary useful, and hope you can keep your points flowing by applying for this card via my referral link. Am currently saving my points for a holiday to Europe with my partner, so any bonus points earned are most gratefully received. :)

Hi member viewers
Here is the Amex referral link:

a) You get a 100,000 Qantas points (was 55K) as sign-up bonus after you spend $1500
b) 1.5 points per dollar spent on purchases
c) 2 person access to the Amex lounge Sydney International Terminal every 12 months
d) One free return domestic Qantas flight between most capital cities
c) Travel insurance etc.

For being so kind we get a 30,000 Qantas points as a referral bonus which Mrs Lime and I need for a big trip we are planning in 2018 :). Considering the massive clawback by the Banks AMEX and other card points earning capacity, this is an excellent card to increase your points rapidly.

so here it is: http://amex.com.au/refer/annacIh5L

Re: Qantas Ultimate Amex: 100k Points, Flight/Credit, 0% BT (New 5/8/17 - Exp 28/9/17

Hi everyone,
I got my Qantas Amex Ultimate card using a referral link on this site and have been very happy with it so far. I got it just before the 100,000 points came in but never mind, I'm happy. Very surprised to get my bonus points and spending points credited to Qantas before I'd paid the first months charges so great service from Amex. I also received an update in the mail today confirming:-
1. The $450 travel credit applies from 31 October,
2. You get two Amex lounge passes plus two Qantas lounge passes each year after spending on selected Qantas products,
3. 1.5 points per $ spend,
4. Extra 1 point per $ spend on selected Qantas products,
4. Qantas Epiqure membership for food and wine orders, (these come with some generous bonus points from time to time and we enjoy their wines).
Mrs Pug and I are planning a bucket list trip next year and are saving our QF points for that, it's a special birthday for her but she is much younger than me! So I would really apprecaite it if anyone is kind enough to use my link to apply for this great card [FONT=&quot]http://amex.com.au/refer/johndoruh.

Hi folks,

If anybody else wants to "share the love", here is my referral link. http://amex.com.au/refer/andregmXLC

I won't clog up the thread as Excel and others have more than adequately covered the conditions etc. Nice job folks - thanks! :)

I applied on Sunday, had instant approval and received the cards within the week.

This baby seems lots better value than my other FF cards (ANZ and NAB). May do further consolidation soon.

Cheers all

Andrew

PS Ours are going towards a European vacation for the family next year (hopefully doesnt turn out like Chevy Chase's!)

Hi all, mrs rock and I are vigorously planning a big anniversary trip early 2019 and looking to accrue QFF points to make it a very special one.

Any help would be much appreciated!

http://amex.com.au/refer/aarynbpeYJ

As other have mentioned this is one of the highest earners out there now with a general 1.5 point per $ spent. Along with this there are some really great benefits making this card pay for itself IMO, my 2 favourite being:
- $450 travel credit as of 1 October to use on any QF coded flights
- Free Qantas Epiqure membership (for those wine lovers like myself :D), along with the great bonus points offers on some wines comes the 3 points per $!

Thanks in advance to anyone who uses my referral :):)

Hello and thank you once again to heygman for using my referral link.

It appears amex are now enforcing the 200,000 points per year limit for referral bonuses. My last referral granted 20k instead of 30k bringing up to the 200k total and I subsequently received an email saying my 'allowance' for referrals is now zero.

Mods if you could please remove the referral link from my original post to ensure another member is rewarded for any future referrals?

I was quite blessed with the opportunity to refer a number of friends + family in a previous referral offer, which was 40k :)

Nice one! I think we may have just found the Ultimate first world problem, if you'll pardon the pun? ;)

Can't say I'm anywhere near the 200k referral cap (so any clicks my way are, of course, most gratefully received!), but I certainly admire your efforts!

Hey Sam, out of curiosity, when you changed from Premium to Ultimate, did your referral link change for the Qantas cards or did it stay the same (if you took any notice)?
