At Rockpool Bar and Grill today Qantas Loyalty launched its new "Aquire" program for SMEs/ SMBs.

What makes Aquire different?
We've designed Aquire to turn business flights and expenses into rewards. Unlike other loyalty programs where points are only available to individuals, businesses will be able to earn Aquire Points in a central Aquire account, while business owners and employees who are Qantas Frequent Flyer members simultaneously earn Qantas Points as they usually would. At launch Aquire members could earn points across travel, financial services, professional services, vehicle related expenses, office related spend and other key business expense categories.

What can I use Aquire points for?
You can convert Aquire Points to Qantas Points*, opening up a range of options to improve your bottom line results. Points are converted at a rate of 1:1, and can be used:
as gifts to employees as rewards and recognition
to enable employees and business owners to book flights for work or play
to book flight upgrades
to redeem products, experiences and gifts from the Qantas Store
Only the business owner or registered representative is able to convert Aquire Points into Qantas Points and assign them, so you always have complete control.

What is the benefit of joining Aquire?
With Aquire, you can:
Turn your everyday business expenses into points and rewards
Reward employees without additional financial outlay
Save on flights and flight upgrades across your business
The annual membership fee will be waived for businesses that register for Aquire within the first six months from launch of the Aquire program

Earn 500 points per flight in our early-bird special for eligible businesses^
As an introductory offer to kick-start your Aquire Points balance, when you pre-register your business by 28 February 2014, you can earn 500 Aquire Points per eligible flight+ for every Qantas domestic and Qantas international flight (with a 'QF' flight number) operated by Qantas, American Airlines and Emirates booked and travelled between either 12.01am (AEDT) 1 December 2013 or the date you pre-register (whichever is the later) and 11:59pm (AEDT) 28 February 2014.

Makes sense that if businesses are paying for employees flights the business get the FF rewards but I am sure there will be those on here that disagree.

Is the annual membership fee waived in perpetuity if someone joins in the first 6 months, or only for the first year? The wording isn't clear, although given this is Qantas, I'd suspect it's the latter.

Am I reading it correctly - that both the business (paying for flights) and the individual (travelling) will earn points (Acquire and QFF)?

That's how I read it

I think so. Other airlines already do this - eg Etihad.

re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

This is confirmed in the FAQ:
[h=3]Can an individual earn Qantas Points for themselves as well as earning Aquire Points for my business when travelling on an eligible Qantas flight through the early bird offer?[/h]Yes, as long as the flyer is a member of Qantas Frequent Flyer and the business has pre-registered. You just need to ensure the booking includes an ABN as well as the flyer's Qantas Frequent Flyer number. Aquire Points are earned for a business on top of any Qantas points an individual QFF Member earns.

So if the points earn is 1:1 this basically = a doubling of all QFF points for anyone with an ABN!! book through 'Aquire" and then collect twice, once personally and once through the business and then transfer…… Also can book 'friends' through business account and earn miles, and they pay you, both earn miles. Seems ripe for exploitation to me, which is great obviously ;)

It sounds to me as though the aquire points will be a lot fewer than the FF points, so not a doubling, however any extra points is a bonus....Can't see any downside in registering.

The spelling of this annoys me.. But I get why they have spelled it that way. Don't BA also offer something like this?

re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

Anything that will earn some of us more points for no extra outlay is a good thing.

What is of significant interest is the ability to transfer those points, the partners in the program will make or break the opportunity IMHO.

re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

DO you need to be a company or simply a business with an ABN?

Business can earn some rewards as well. That does not bother me.

But those rewards better not be in lieu of the traveller earning their rightful rewards as well. I have no desire to travel anywhere with SCs and QFF points.

re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

In spite of the increase in points required to redeem flights, as a small business owner I see this as a true enhancement (so far anyway)

re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

This is a great initiative. Much better than Qantas Cash actually.

re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

I'm afraid that the business controllers will use the points to book work flights for employees.
This results in employee travelling on award ticket with no SC/points.

I can see my company doing this.

Unless I can convince them to use the points for travel class upgrades, but that will be playing the lottery.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Do you need your job that badly?
