Hi all,

I will reach WP status with Qantas this year for the first and only time and need to attain 110 SC's by the end of April.

MEL is home for me.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction to earn these SC's.

An overnight stay is OK, just want the most value.

Thanks again.

So congratulations on ( nearly) achieving WP. Sad that you won't ever go it again though. You will certainly miss it .
You certainly have plenty of time to get your 110 SC's. Where do you need / want to go?

One easy way to get 120 SC is MEL-SYD-OOL in J and OOL-SYD-MEL in Flex Y same day return for $968.00, so $8.06/SC.

Thanks for your input, don't care where I go but just want the SC's for the least $$$$.

MEL - AKL F class EK's 380 with QF flight number for Aud$1360 plus some on the way back in whY on QF JetConnect.
120 QF SC in one flight on the way there plus 20 on the way back.
Try the MEL QF F lounge.

That's just silly. If you were doing to do that, you would book it exAKL when it's on sale, saves $500. But still not the best deal as you still have to spend to get to AKL. The OP is looking for the most economical run, not how to fly EK F and get into the F lounge.

MEL-SYD-CNS-BNE-MEL is 110 SC in Flex Y for $863 = $7.85/SC and can be done as a same day turnaround

Ok, yes it's cheaper the other way. But...
Not all of us here fly for work, and I will never (not unless I win lotto) get WP so flying F is my only chance to get to see and feel the QF MEL or SYD F lounges.
There would be some like me on here, few I agree.

I don't fly for work, don't make lots of money either. But I've been in the F lounge a few times. What you an I can and want to do has nothing to do with answering the OP's question, which is how to get 110SC for as little $ as possible.

Cairns is always a good option, buy its tourist nature it's cheaper and a flexi fare reasonable. If you have around 30K points to throw at it as well you can probably spend less than $500 and do it in a day.

I don't see the need to attack someone. The answer may not be what the OP is looking for, but he/she hasn't harmed or insulted anyone. I don't see why you don't just answer the original question and keep your insults to yourself.

You're a senior member that type of attitude is uncalled for.

How could you possibly construe that as an attack on someone? The comment was clearly about the flights , and not about the person.

I'm sorry you feel that way. However the question was to find the cheapest 110 SC possible. Not how to use the F lounge. Therefore spending $600-700 more than required to get the SCs is silly.

Sorry AP but it's NOT all about you. The OP has said several times they want the cheapest cost for the SC's. Your plan simply isn't meeting that requirement.

With the 95th birthday sale now on there are plenty of fairly good options out there. MEL-OOL in J $499 (for dates Jan-Apr to fit in with the timeframe) can get 120 SC return for $998. Want cheaper, the MEL-SYD-OOL option in Flex is always a good one, or mix and match for under $800 do MEL-OOL one way, then OOL-SYD-MEL in Flex Y return.

OOL is still the best value even with MEL-OOL direct flights, at 60SC earning each way a sale fare of $500 is decent value for oz domestic.

To get to 110, CNS still beats OOL at this point

true CNS is a bit more effective, but it's also a lot further away, and in the stormy season may be (slightly) more weather impacted. Just a thought anyway.

If it were me (and no, it's not all about me :) ) I'd prefer a shorter option (ifn in whY)

That I'll agree with ;)

I would seriously consider the extra $135 to just do MEL-OOL-MEL in J and get it done faster in comfort

Also of interest, MEL-SYD-DFW in F earns 620SC for only AUD17,092, so AUD27.57/SC. Not the cheapest, but gives access to the F lounge in SYD!:D
