Is the maximum number of pax reduced for QF7 and/or QF8?

The Sequels are travelling QF7 and QF8 in the next few weeks and I am wondering if, due to the marginal ability of the flight to make it without the splash and dash, do QF sell less than the maximum number of available seats, and if so by how much?

Both flights are now unable to be booked via QF.com and are showing all the 0's down the back on KVS. If there are likely to be free seats, then I will choose a different area of the plane versus if it is going to be full.

The QF seat maps for both still have a lot of empty seats, however when I look on KVS there aren't many available. I will admit that I am no expert on KVS, and while it appears that I have my QFF details stored, it shows no free seats in 43/44, however from the QF seat map there are plenty, so I have the feeling what KVS is showing me may only be non status availability.

We have put in for a Y-J upgrade for the 4 of us on QF8. We are travelling QF7 on 16.09 and QF8 on 29.09.

So if QF7 is showing all zero's in whY I shouldn't expect the WP shadow?

And on QF8, I take it then that they dont reduce J/W loads, so if it is showing J2 C0 D0 I0 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 the chances of 4x Y-J (or even Y-W) is slim?

While the rest of the family will be disappointed when the upgrade doesn't come through, on the plus side it means I will have enough points to book a BNE-PVG JASA I was looking at for myself!!

Arrived back on QF8 today, plane 3/4 full, in J about 10 empty seats. Was told light load no stops.

I had a chat with the crew on QF8 earlier this year. I was told and have no independent verification: Because of the marginal nature of the flight it "starts" bookings with, I think, 30 empty seats. As the day gets closer the weather forecast and load is assessed and more seats may be released.

It was a great flight by the way and I liked DFW as a transit point and departure airport.

It did make me wonder about booking economy next time and crossing fingers that there would be empty space

I did QF8 on Monday - there were a large amount of empty Y seats - some of the rows only had 1 person in them. We were allowed after take off to get up and move around - the sleep across three seats was great. We had a 30min delay in DFW in the airport and then again another 30mins on the tarmac - we even got in 15mins early
