Hi All!

So booked a domestic flight yesterday under Flexi Saver (V) class which is considered as Flexible Economy as far as SC's are concerned and has a lower upgrade points level than red-e-deal.
Today I find out that the Qantas domestic fare structure changes went live, my V class booking looks to be considered as discount economy, as it is giving me a 10,000 points upgrade quote for SYD-MEL which is what I thought was a red-edeal level.
Will Qantas automatically move people who booked flex before the change into the new flex fare class BHKYM? or will they honour the V class booking in regards to points/SC's and flexibility at the airport?

A question I'm hoping to get a positive answer from too. I specifically booked V prior to the announcement for a flight next week. Will not be impressed if I earn at the lower rate for SCs.

Yes I was booked in V class when I changed some flights yesterday. (A qantaslink flight with no J). Still cost $634 oneway KTA-PER, and this gives me red-e-deal earn?? I noticed that the changes relate to the date of the flight, not the date of the booking.

Is there anyway one can request an upgrade to next level flexi? Be interesting to see how much the extra would be.

I noted today that the new Flex fare on the website today is the same price if not a few dollars cheaper than my V class booking.. You would think they would just move any existing Flexi saver booking classes booked before the change into the lowest BHKMY bucket (if the price didn't differ or exceed previous booking)?

I saw this on the original announcement and thought it a complete 100% turnaround to how QF usually implement changes such as this. Must admit: was too busy at the time to delve deeper then.

Just another "QF enhancement" where you don't receive what you'd originally purchased??

Interesting, I looked up the same flight ....they now are offering a Red-e-deal at $100 cheaper than the flexi I paid last night. (no red-e-deals available) Seems like we were charged $100 more last night or stuck in the wrong class (V).
Rang platline, they assure me that even though it is V class, it is still treated as a flexi. She said to wait until flight has been taken and points posted...and then jokingly said "you can trust our IT people to get it right!!" lol

Have a look for the other thread that discusses this topic: The general consensus is that the fare rules that applied at the time of booking should apply. That is, yesterday V earned at Economy Rates, so your flight should do so too.

Thanks for the update roncritch.

Sounds like the IT Dept have had a "works experience" tour of the platline - must have been nice for them to get out of school for the day!!

I'll wait and see what posts next week.

This was something that was simply not addressed and I questioned it at the time with no response

I would like to see a confirmation from RedRoo that indeed all flexi (V) bookings made before the 18th will be honoured and given the proper amount of points and SCs.

Also I just realised that my MEL-SYD-MEL flight in the upgrade tab is showing 10k points required, I always thought it was 5000 points for MEL-SYD on Flexible Economy fare to Business and 8000 points from a discount economy fare to Business??

Something screwy is going on..! or am I missing something?

The normal QF consistency is on display again.

Old V class bookings correctly show V class and Flex Economy on the booking details screen, so there is some chance of points and SC crediting correctly, but an upgrade attempt is treating them as Red-E, meaning the actual credit will be a lottery.

If requesting an upgrade, I would be inclined to call up. When I am sure I am not going to change flight times, I will be doing this - have enough points for upgrade from flexible, but not enough from Red-e.

Ah... well I hope that's not an argument I will have to fight too hard to get... I've got plenty of outstanding V-fare bookings ahead, and I may want to upgrade some of them. I will be expecting to be able to upgrade at the rates advertised at the time of booking.

This link doesn't seem to give me much confidence though: rather than saying "for bookings made from/to", it says "for travel from"...

Red Roo, it would be greatly appreciate if you could confirm one way or the other. I'd rather know upfront before having to call up to clarify and not having confidence in the answer being provided (and having to HUACA, and possibly get a different answer).

I will be pretty cranky though if the conditions of the fare (including rules for obtaining a Classic Upgrade Reward) are not recognised as at the time the booking was made. I booked Flexi Saver Fares, so I expect to be able to upgrade at the Flexible Economy rate.
